Hi There,

Firstly, I would like to thank DR. Ram on his beautiful words and guidance.

Thank you Sir, as a reader, your guidance and words meant lot to me too.

After DR Ram's guidance, I don't think there is a need for any more guidance from anyone else

however I would like to contribute my suggestions and hope this contributes in selecting appropriate specialization for you.

I am with 4 years experience in software field and now pursuing MBA HR (Regulars, 4th semester).

I suggest you go according to your interest regardless of the jobs that market provides you in the near future.

On ma personal experience, I can say that its just not the money or any job in hand that matters

but the "Kind" of the job (HR/Finance) in which you would invest 10-12 hours of your routine time that matters all.

Skill yourself in the interested field (HR/Finance) and no market is limited for skilled candidate.

Doing a job of which you are not interested into or less interested would only lead to job dissatisfaction and increased stress.

Regards

Your immaturity and ignorance of knowing about finance is the reason, i am finance person and doing HR work. Assume in a company there are two persons one handling full HR and one full Finance. Can you tell in case of downsizing what will company do, remove finance person and give finance works to HR person or remove HR person and give HR work to Finance. In Finance field especially wherein you are the only person, you are in full custody / treasurer of the finance and statements and cheques, investments etc, hence at no point will you be removed without proper notice period and handover takeover, , and since being in finance you are involved in core management and budgeting finance person can downsize HR budget and remove HR staff, but HR person does not have power to downsize Finance Budget and remove finance staff.
After all its all about money honey.

Dear Mr. K. Ravi,

Many days back I had commented on this topic and today I have seen that it has gone to different direction. The discussion started from some where else has just become a competition between HR vs Finance. I don't blame any one some of our friends but they have actually forgotten the basics and are just trying to bully their views on others. It appears some of them are just writing many things on presumptions as they them selves are not having knowledge or experience. In my comment long back I had mentioned that any graduate by doing MBA (Finance) from some B/C class College that too in Distance or Part time can't become a Financial Expert and friends you may not like it but that's the reality.

I totally agree with Mr. K.Ravi that finance is the Back Bone of any business or Industry and any one with any qualification or degree can't become a financial expert. Just a minor mistake in calculation of costs in a big tender can make any Company Bank-corrupt or at least take them to red for a very long period. To succeed in finance one requires deep knowledge of many many aspects of the finance from accounts to audit, Costings to Futures, from SEBI guidelines to RBI regulations, from Banking to Cash Management and from productivity to production the list will go on. Any financial expert can handle HR/ADMIN job with some extra labor but it can't be other way. A finance person may not become a HRD expert but still can manage nicely. Here I would also like to mention dear how many companies in India have real HRD departments and how many of our friends working in HR departments have really done any thing about HRD in their companies.

On lighter side most important fact no HR person can succeed in HRD unless the FCO (Finance person) supports him.

I hope every one will take this in right spirit.

I find this discussion not worthy at all. there are sects of management. people can decide which sect is good for them. it is being taken as war between finance and HR. HR people do recruitment, staffing, salary processing, legal compliance etc. can finance person do that? i don't think they can. if they will they will make it worse. HR should have People Management skills, analytical skills, Legal knowledge. however finance people just possess analytical skills, they fail in managing people.
HR and Finance are equally important. nor organizations can survive without either one.

Hello,

You are really confused. You are actually asking us to go for an apple or an orange. Not a Kashmiri Apple or American Apple. Look categorically, both finance and HR are different fields. May be you are confused because you see them as job sources which gives you a stable feeling and earns money for you.

It might sound rough but non of the distance learning educations are comparable with full time courses. Remember you will face a tough competition if someone else is in the race with a full-time MBA experience. Choosing between Finance or HR should be completely based upon your confidence level and interest. Both the fields need different expertise to perform well. As you have already decide that MARKETING is not your cup of tea then you must have strong reasons for it. Likewise find reasons in HR & Finance. I am sure you will definitely arrive at a conclusion.

My objective is to make you aware about the realities. Certainly distance learning courses will fetch you good opportunities to lift your career from current position. But you need to find interest in one subject and love working on it. I am sure one can achieve extreme success if interest is there as a vital component. You should take multiple views, but when it comes to decision making it should be only you who must decide a career path.

Good luck,

Mr. Priyadarshee Pradhan

]hai..am a mba studntnt and spcialised in hr. obviously finance have scop in india, but its not the factor that u consider in your career. go and select what you like,.you said that you like ob and communication. if you are interested in that then dont bother about the scop and all things. if you have the potential and ability to learn ,opportunity will follow you.

HEY DEAR,,,,,,,,,,,,

Well first let me congratulate your interest in doing MBA

The course not only offers you a good pay but also makes you competent and gives you good exposure

there are many sub courses in MBA like

>MARKETING

>HUMAN RESOURCE

>FINANCE

>FOREIGN TRADE

>OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT

These specializations have their own importance and scope

It all depends on your interest and the way you want to do MBA

MBA FINANCE:

Look dear this course deals with the economic and financial interest of companies

For this course you need to understand the market trends and they way you deal with the dire situations

If you have an interest in economics this will be a good course for you

MBA HUMAN RESOURCE:

This is completely opposite to the finance .

Here you are thought on how to handle customers and client

You need to posses good oral skills and must be capable of helping people

It mainly requires you to handle the human resources of your company thereby motivating them to work better

this provides you good exposure and you get to interact with many people

i will suggest you also think of the constraint which shall be arising in doing MBA-Finance through "distance".

If you have Commerce background at Graduation then advisable to go for MBA-Finance,otherwise not..

SO BUDDY HAVE A THOUROUGH THOUGHT AND THEN DECIDE FOR YOURSELF

THANKS
