Humble respects to everyone who has taken time out of their busy routines or schedules to make a contribution here, it's been a learning - serious and one's with a little bit of humour as well. Questions could be asked if HR is a Headless Chicken or a ScapeGOAT, but i would suggest we turn a blind eye to that. We needn't catch every ball thrown to us. Let's not get "FIXED."

Of late I have seen more appreciation of the HR professionals and the departments they staff, than ever before.

HR shoulders: Recruiting, Retention, Compliance, Benefits, Compensation, Work Environment Issues, Job Offers, Terminations, Exit Interviews, New Hire Paperwork, Scheduled Performance Review Paperwork, Handbook Policies, Safety, Drug Free Workplace Issues, Community Events, Disciplinary Counseling, Sexual Harassment Issues, Hostile, And A Confidant To You …..and now you tell me that you view this department as direct overhead line item to your P & L? Do you really mean that?

I will tell you ladies and gentlemen that after several long gut wrenching and sometimes professionally heated discussion I've had with the leadership in the companies I served, it's not been easy, I must admit though, that it took a while to make them understand what we are capable of.

I've often got this reply too “….You are one of the few people that could get away talking to me like this. But after listening to you, I have to admit that I have in all probability misaligned my thinking about our HR staff. So tell me Mr. Employee Champion, how to do fix this relationship between me and the HR team?”

Fortunately the light had come on their heads and we set the healing process in motion.

I tell you this true story because it is played out every day in businesses. My relationship with the Company I serve now as one of a business partner not as an adversarial relationship. Are there bad apples in all industries/job titles? Of course, but the companies that thrive, seem to willing share respect to all team members beginning at the highest level of management or ownership. If it is not demonstrated there, it won’t be demonstrated throughout the organizational chart of team players.

I sincerely believe what I’ve told here so much so that I can state Openly anywhere that the occupation of Human Resource Professional truly ranks in the top five. Be kind to each other and keep on doing what you do best…..people management.

Actually I have received most of responses keeping in view of behavioural aspect rather than technical which I was seeking for. but few things are really important which I

have framed about Hr professionals.

Every individual in an organization has different roles & responsibility but being an HR, I feel that we are "Integral proteins" of cell membrane (Organization) with semi-permeable characteristics and representing the nature of cell membrane to allow only those things to transport both ways which are really helpful to thrive

the organization. we make ourselves a cushion to absorb any & every shock to organization, although it is superficially known as "Sand witch model" but the subtle

beauty is still to be surfaced & to be spreaded & more than that still to be known.

The role of HR - I would say is to set examples through professionalism what administration, discipline, and ethics means in any kind of organization. And HR ..is the nerve centre of any organization. Therefore, the role of HR exceeds the role specified by the definition of "management" or "managing". HR is an agent of bringing in virility and a motto into an organization. It is the brain.

Let you reassess the position of HR. HR has been pitted by both Management & workers in terms of Industrial relations & being always in an environment of mistrust both look at HR by the glaze of suspicion with negative mind of frame so the challenge to maintain harmony & trust by both is a continuous process or has it any end????????
And if HR is a shock absorber & change bringer then what is the relevance of other departments & at what extent other functions are justifiable?????
