Dear Mr. Octavious,

With the grace of ALMIGHTY, I can present/share numerous IDEA's but, i don't know whether they will workout or not. But, we can still make them work for a GOOD CAUSE.

Can i present my "IDEA" to you for choosing a MODERATOR. If you like it, you can say "WHAT A IDEA SIR JI"

Please start a thread with a poll or request those members, who frequently share information/thoughts/suggestions to AIR their opinion and RECOMMEND those members, "WHO CAN PLAY A BETTER ROLE AS MODERATOR". Please ensure that "A MODERATOR SHOULD POSSESS LEADERSHIP SKILLS, COMMON SENSE, SENSE OF HUMOR, BASIC KNOWLEDGE(KNOWLEDGEABLE) & LOT MORE"

The same approach can also be utilized for nominating "SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTS". I am sure there are members who would love to share their knowledge to an extend.

Everything in this world has its own LIMITS. Hence, knowledge can be shared to some extend only. Rather being selfish, I don't want to stop anyone from earning their BREAD & BUTTER, by offering their GENUINE SERVICES, as many had been promoting their services for a quite a long period by proving their mettle.

Kindly look into my suggestions and please ensure that "WE TAKE RIGHT DECISION FOLLOWED BY SPECIFIC ACTIONS(IMPLEMENTATION)" in favour of this community and members too.

Wish you GOOD LUCK.

With profound regards

Dear Boss
We like you also hope, the same and be optimistic . But till the time things like these are not implement or rather cannot be implemented lets be realistic. And the real situation is we all must contribute towards well being of all members, by not just knowledge sharing but also by fulfilling respective duties and responsibilities.
Dear SKhadir
The idea is good, and can be tried, I suggest why dont you talk to other moderators and also you have still not agreed to be the moderator.
Regards
Octavious

Dear Mr. Octavious
How about asking some nominal joining fee and Annual fee from our existing members and from the newly joining members. It can be used to maintain the site in high standards.
Let us put this point also to our Administrator CHR Mr. Sid, so that he can consider about this also.

I think Bhaskar's idea can be implemented fairly easily - sending an email to the user when a moderation event occurs is a good idea - but it'll have to wait for some time as there are some more developments in progress.

Octavious, I don't think you said it in a harsh way but as it happens in this text only medium people tend to read more than what was written at times. Specially when they are feeling wronged or vulnerable and are voicing their opinions.

Skhadir, I doubt anyone will sit and read the rules and regulations even if we post it everywhere. We do have a "posting guidelines" block which is added to the "New Thread" form - it covers the major issues like copyrights and defamation. We can add a "Do not repeat post" there but the more crowded we'll make it, the chances of it being read will diminish. I'll see if we can add some checks for repeat posting but it's unlikely that such measures cannot be bypassed by the user.

I think moderation requires some common sense, a lot of restraint and the understanding that you don't need to justify anything as long as you are implementing the rules. If there are duplicate threads they need to be deleted. The fact that the user is not notified is a technical glitch and the moderators are not responsible for that - they are volunteering to keep the place healthy and clean. That should be their sole motivation and of course when we have knowledge behemoths like Narasimhan taking up the job - they are bound to spill some of it here.

We do need more moderators and I'll ask (Cite Contribution) to identify and give them the permissions. It's merely about having the tools to be able to modify, delete and curate the information available here. It just better for all of us if the knowledgeable and experienced people have that power.

Regards,

Sid
