Hi swastik,
you really thought of a point which we could hardly imagine in between discussions of this particular post..
well you are correct in saying that every profession in itself is knowledge based..true, but here the point is the comprehensive knowledge, the "to the point" knowledge, in many of the fields knowledge is just not enough , it needs labour also , infact most of the labour....
there are certain areas where one needs to have the proper knowledge and certain areas where an idea of that field also does the needful..So here in HR that proper knowledge is necessary. Just think, wouldn't it be advisable to hire one MBA HR rather than hiring four simple graduates with some experience...
On the contrary , isn't that, companies prefer to hire five graduates with some experience in marketing rather than hiring one or two MBA mktg.
I hope you got the point.....
Am I near to your perception bala??

Deepali,
Yes, you are absolutely right. Most of the organisations would do this and aren't they right?
Sacry, please advise whether we are in sync on your thoughts when you posted the query?
Thanks

Hi Vishal,
It is purely a knowledge base. If you have good knowledge in that Field you can handle any issue. If you do not have the job knowlede then it can be considered as Labour based. You need to put lot of efforts in you work it will take a long time to learn the process. If you have Job knowledge you cannot see stars but you can show him light on his face.
Thanks

Hi Vishal,
HR is purely knowledge based.
I would like to share my thought if we all think we are working for a company to just implement policies and procedures and practice labour laws it would be a monotonous labour based HR.
BUT we have been given an opportunity to introduce, implement, practise what ever we have decided in the meeting with our superior.
WE ARE NOT WORKING FOR AN INDIVIDUAL COMPANY WE ARE WORKING FOR THE INDUSTRY WE BELONG.
IF WE INTRODUCE A GOOD POLICY AND PRACTISES IT WOULD HAVE A IMPACT IN OUR INDUSTRY
SO IT IS PURELY KNOWLEDGE BASED.
FRIENDS KEEP UPDATE YOURSELVES.
Thank you

Yes, Gopik, you are right in stating "FRIENDS KEEP UPDATE YOURSELVES".
Veering away from the topic, updating ourselves with current technology, developments, theories, ideas in our own selected field is absolutely important for our own career, self development and well being. Hence let us have more and more exchange of information relevant to our own fields on the site.
Thanks

Dear Dips,

Your post mentioning Graduates and MBAs reminded me of some incidents, stoires and instances out of which Three I am sharing with you:

1) A simple graduate with some experienced started a business from scratch which finally became an Empire - Reliance Industries. His two sons both Management Graduates divided the Empire.

2) There was this banana seller who use to sell bananas outside the front gate of a famous MNC. The Chairman of the Comapny use to see him everyday and as time passed they started exchanging smiles.

One day the Chairman was to go abroad for some business work. He left the office early, as he was going out he saw the Banana Seller packing up for the day. The Chairman called the Banana Seller and the Conversation was as follow

Chairman : " How are you?"

Banana Seller : "Everything is Fine by the Grace of God, Sir."

Chairman : " How many baskets do you sell per day?"

Seller: " 4 times 2 Baskets each time "

Chairman : " What??? You mean to tell me that you roate your Working

Capital 4 Times a Day!!!!!"

Seller: " Yes Sir."

Chairman: Can you please tell me why is it that with all my Expertise and Resources I find it very diffucult to Rotate my WC once in Every Year and you with such limited resources can do it 4 times a day???"

Seller: " Sir, I donot employ MBAs"

3) One of the leading Industrialists who is into FMCG once stated that MBAs from top Management Schools are great in giving colourfulstarategies but if you tell them to physically sell a product they fail 9 out of 10 times.

Actually all I wanted to say was that a person who has knowledge in any profession is always sought for and it is common to all profession. For example, in a Garage you will always prefer a particular mechanic over others because he is more knowledgeable in executing his job. So every profession is knowledge based why single out HR. Once you categorise this let me tell you some more facts. There are lot of Companies who have unqualified, underqualified or non qualified personnel in HR but can you ever dream of anybody other than a Medical Graduate doing a BY pass Surgery. The law doesnot allow it. There is no such law in India regarding HR, hence will you agree that Medicine is more Knowledge based than HR?

Finaaly if you really want to know why MBAs are given value you can ask me through my email: .

Warm Regards,

SC
