Dear Team,
I have a query regarding ESIC. Now, ESIC limit has been increased from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 21,000. Suppose an employee who has been working in our company for the last 4 years and currently earns Rs. 18,000. Now, as per ESIC regulations, he will come under ESIC. For that, we should generate his/her IP number. What DATE OF JOINING should we put over there? Should we put the actual date or should we put 01/01/2017 (because the amendment was effective from 01/01/2017)?
Kindly guide/suggest me on the same.
Thank you.

Hi all,
I wanted to check if we make any hires towards internships or trainees in our organization, would we still need to follow the new ESIC rules of a minimum of 21,000 INR. The interns or trainees are still pursuing their education and have not yet graduated from their respective colleges. Additionally, they need to stay here for the internship for only 2 or 3 months.
Please help.

Sir, under the provisions of the ESI Act, 1948 (definition of the term "employee"), only the apprentices engaged under the provisions of the Apprenticeship Act, 1961, are not covered under the said Act. This exemption applies for the specified period as mentioned in the Apprenticeship Act. If individuals are not engaged under the provisions of the said Act, all persons engaged, regardless of their intention or purpose, are covered under the provisions of the ESI Act, 1948.
