An appointment letter is the "contractual obligation" between you and the organisation.
If you do not have this, then both are exposed - it is in the interest of these parties to have an appointment letter.

Offer letter is given upon selection outlining the designation, profile, remuneration, location, and specific date by which candidate has to join. On the date of joining prescribed HR forms e.g. PF, gratuity are given and candidate has to submit these forms.Appointment letter should be given on induction. Each company has to subscribe to concerned laws.
If you wish to join ask for the appointment letter in a gentle manner. You may even obtain employee's copy of employee rule book, certified standing orders.
Be careful and shy away from unscrupulous employers.

hi,
as per labour legislations, whether an employer had issued an appointment letter or not is immaterial, if you can prove that you had worked there. even for availing the service benefits the legal position is same.
the intention behind not issuing an appointment letter is that to know about the suitability of a new employee and to terminate his services, if he is not suitable for the employer. on the other hand your apprehension is whether my appointment is secured if the letter of appointment is not issued. pragmatically considering, if you are really capable of rendering the results to the best satisfaction of the employer, no employer would intend to terminate your services, because there are no many good employees who can give results expected by the employers. so better to concentrate on work and be favorite employee of your employer.

Sudha -
few years back, a company named Classic Labels qualified as 2nd best workplace to work for.
the company did not have a HR manager nor a quality manager for 50 yrs of operation yet is superlative in HR & Quality practices.
average salary of a worker was 20k then..

are there any strong reasons which are legally valid too for -
what has first salary got to do with appointment letter ?
why offer letter at time of joining and appointment letter at end of the month

actually they have to give the appoinment letter . bt now they given you only Conformation letter . reason is that mostly candidates lives the company after getting the appoinmemt letter on current ctc. so conformation letter now issues. after probition period (6 month) they issues the conform letter that is appoinment letter means you are the permanant employee of our company .

Dear SVSrana,
i am not saying its bad and HR is to be there but at least some person should be there who can answer your questions of leaves, a proper hierarchy what to be achieved by us if we get some work done not money designation and many small issues. we have accounts person bt when we ask something priority he gives to his work and our will be listen when we are just going to leave or if not imp after few days.
I am not complaining , regarding salary dont ask its just a bargaining game, and i am just interested to help my company and regarding offer letter when anyone join here he/she should have to give all documents +releiving letter bt from there side you just keep moving here and there . I can manage as i had contact with superiors who can help me, bt i really want to help my company and persons working here at least basic needs of everyone should be taken care. I hope nw you will show me the right way.
Thanks
