Dear good.hr.associates

Do you think the Bribe system is started by HR People or just before 10 or 20 or 30 years back?

Do you want to convey to all that there is no bribe system in world in early 20th century.

For your kind information.

The Jesus Christ was caught only after bribing his disciple and crucified.
In Maha Bharata, Raja Parikshit was also killed by a snake which got turned as a lemon and the lemon shaped snake was carried upto the raja only after bribing.

Okay!!!!!!!!!!

Leave those examples...................

who knows whether these are only stories or realities.

The Bribing system was taught by the mother and father themselves during the childhood itself. If you go and get that item for me, I will give you a toffee. What is that Toffee??????????

Have you ever thought about that..........

That's the starting point of Bribe........

The concept of receiving something for doing something has taken the short name called as BRIBE which is implanted in our childhood itself.

While going to some hotel for dining, will you offer some tips to the Bearer or not?

What is that tips.......... Have you ever had a thought about that.

You will find the meaning, that the bearer should serve you first eventhough the other people waiting to get their ordered food. This time if you offer more tips means surely he will serve you in better way during your next visit. That's the reason you are offering TIPS.

You are offering money to the Beggers. Here also, you have the expectation that the god will give you more and if not also atleast you will receive some Punya by that donation offered even to the Beggar.

We all are supporting Anna Hazare, because the level of corruption has crossed the tolerance level and his effort will bring down the corruption atleast upto some level and not that it will completely eradicate the Corruption and the World's Bribing system.

As asked by 28677c5420521383353edc6e6 Are you sure that you never gave any bribe to anyone till now. If it is so then we are not fit for survival in this world.

Even I faced a lot of problem after leaving the services and in the beginning of my Construction Industry Career. All the statutory compliances are to be done by me and I have to (whether interested or not - I am forced to) manage the officials.

Change - the only consistent thing in this world which never get changed.

Cheer up and Live Peacefully.

Dear goodhrassociate,
Its perhaps that right time when anna hazare and baba ramdev are figting against corruption, to start this thread. This is time when ppl start thinking about bribe/corruption.
Yes, HR is also one of professions where such things are happening. However, I belive, good HR professional is the one who refrain from such practices, who selects/rejects a candidate/faculty/vendor based on the merit and objectivity only, not any other criteria.
I strongly believe that not only receiving bribe but, even utilizing any of the company resources for hr professionals personal work, without approval, is also a favor received. HR professionals are recruited for company, not the other way round.
By this thread, we hr professionals can raise a concern for rampant corruption.

Cultural Change happens gradually with time....it doesn't happen overnight....As told earlier, We need Civics, Moral Science and LAW as COMPULSORY SUBJECTS RIGHT FROM SCHOOL TILL GRADUATION WITH FULL 100 MARKS PAPER. ALTHOUGH THIS MIGHT NOT MAKE EVERYONE UPRIGHT BUT ATLEAST IT MIGHT STOP MANY FROM BEING IN-HUMAN & MAKE THEM AWARE OF THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES TOWARDS SOCIETY AND COUNTRY AS A WHOLE. IN-DEPTH KNOWLEDGE OF COMPUTERS, MATHS, STATS, SCIENCE ETC CAN BE GIVEN WITH A FEW TRAININGS BUT VALUES, RESPONSIBILITIES, CULTURAL AWARENESS, PATRIOTISM, MORALS, CIVIL RIGHTS, LEGAL LAWS CANNOT BE THOUGHT OVERNIGHT AS THEY HAVE TO BE INGRAINED IN A CHILD FROM A VERY EARLY AGE. UNLESS THIS HAPPENS, DON'T EXPECT PEOPLE WILL CHANGE NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU OR ANYONE ELSE CHANGES........REALITY IS A FACT THAT FEW REALIZE............RGRDS

CLAP CLAP CLAP!!
Nice History lesson. Again Justifying corruption!
According to you we are BOUND by history to give & take bribes. WOW! This is New!!
Well you are NOT a child anymore. Why don't you declare that I will not give or take bribes. Period.
Please Note:
  • My parents never taught me to take or give bribe.
  • I don't tip.But still get nice service by demanding it.
  • I Ignore beggars.
  • I don't bribe but still surviving pretty well
  • Never bribed school for admission to my child.
  • I always stand in queue
  • I never spread litter or spit around.
  • You see the point...???
We have been surviving in our business pretty well without giving commissions & bribes. We could have done much better if we had a level playing field though. Never mind at least we do not Justify nor give bribes / commission.

Hi All,
Its like paradoxical question- asking egg came first or Hen?
Corruption is rooted very deeply and its not just about Corporate HR, if you go looking deeper you will find all Companies involved in corruption some way or the other and ironically some even have their own definitions of corruption.
As Bhaskar mentioned, since childhood we have been taught about accepting and giving bribes...
But yes, we as HR professionals can surely take some steps to curb corruption in our areas...let's change ourselves first and then expect from others...
And Nikhil..i really like the phrase 'ETHICAL CORRUPTION'..in coming days it is going to be a very popular phrase..:)

Hey Why don’t you just commit & say : I will never bribe anyone, give commissions or take bribes. period. How much effort does that take?? Just SAY IT!! Good HR Associates!

Dear Good HR Associates

It is not just Saying it...

We have to adopt in our life and we have to live as we said.........

Is it practicable to live like that??????????

If I tell the practical life, then I know surely you all will make fun of me. But I do not bother.

As a matter of fact, It is the matter of survival, for taking admission in school you have to give donation, otherwise you will not get admission. Can you keep your kids in your residence without sending them to school as a matter of your so called principle. Then you will become the target for everyone, and even you will lose the respect in the society and you will become the Comedy piece to your locality. See, he is the principled man. Due to Donation he did not admitted his child in school, now they are staying in home. Here the world is seeing you only as how you are managing and not as how you are living with your principles.

As a matter of fact, since Last 5 years I have started living in this field as per the requirement warranted and I am proving in my office as a successful man. If I start to live with principle, then I have to go and sit in my home and survive only with my pension. Please try to understand, One can tell I will not accept any bribe or commission but you cannot tell that I will not give. Then the ultimate sufferor is none other than self and family.

Convince or get convinced and never be in between.

Have a great day ahead

Well Another one JUSTIFYING corruption! Who taught you to take bribes & give bribes?
You blame your parents. But at least don't let your children blame you in a similar manner.
Even if educated people like you have accepted corruption without even an iota of fight....I am presuming Hum Indians ka Khoon Safed ho gaya hai.
Real sad.!!!
Not even a single person has so far commented that "I WILL TRY".."I WILL AVOID"
You are taking it so lightly that you have even put a smiley Lauding "ETHICAL CORRUPTION"!!
Next some one will say "Ethical Murder" , "Ethical Rape"
Real sad.!!!..I think it's a shame really!!

Hi again,

I don't know why you being so judgmental and sentimental about each individual who so ever is writing here.. in fact i did not justify anything at all.

Agreeing to someone's views is not justifying and seriously there is nothing i'm blaming my parents for..But yes, have seen many of them doing it. It was a general statement and I would like you to not get so personal...

You want people to say I will try here, and go back start doing what they were...is it the only objective behind this post?..I'm afraid then it will not solve the purpose.

Corruption is in each one of us...lets accept it..and work towards changing ourselves..that's what i wrote earlier..I think you could not read the entire post..quoting them here again...

"But yes, we as HR professionals can surely take some steps to curb corruption in our areas...let's change ourselves first and then expect from others..."

That's the most important thing I feel...

And just a request, please stop putting allegation on people :) and take the disagreement heartily..having a debate should entirely be a healthy process.

Thanks ( Archna is the right spelling of my name not Archana..)
