The contribution at 0.50% of each employee's salary is the same for exempted/non-exempted organizations, payable by the employer to the Provident Fund Authorities. Under Sec. 17(2A) of the act, the employer may be exempted from contributing to this scheme if he/she has provided for better insurance benefits through an alternative scheme. Nominee/legal heirs of the deceased are eligible to claim the EDLI benefits after the deceased member who died while in service. [Form-5(IF), copy attached].
