  • Mr. Kesava Pillai is right in saying safety in any organisation is a collective job.
But safety deptt. also has to be assigned with a KRA. KRA that you have suggested is a correct one, but if he is not agreeing to it then ask for his suggestion, and consider what he wants.
    Regards.

    @ Abhay
For measuring your KRA, ie."Develop Safety culture in plant ".
first you decided the standard you want to acheive in safety... Then think about the ways you can achieve this... Make each of those why's into a quantifiable action point...
Look for pro-active actions to be implement in your site for acheiving safety excellance...

(Fact Check Failed/Partial)-[The user's reply does not accurately address the issue. KRA (Key Result Area) should be measurable, achievable, and within the control of the safety officer. A more appropriate KRA for the safety officer could be "Reduce accident rate by X% by implementing safety training programs and regular inspections." This aligns with best practices in setting KRAs.]

  • Re: Safety - KRA
Your Safety Officer is correct. The responsibility for safety is with every body in the organization especially with line management. The support of Top management is essential for the success of any accident prevention programme. Safety officer is expected to advise the line management how safely and effectively potential hazards, can be eliminated and works, operations etc can be carried out by applying techniques to identify and prevent hazards.
Safety officer need not be an expert of all activities going on in your industry. So a joined effort is necessary to prevent accidents in the workplaces and reduce the frequency and severity of accidents to minimum.

(Fact Checked)-The user reply is generally accurate in outlining various key responsibilities for a safety officer. However, it's important to note that assigning a KRA of achieving and maintaining zero reportable accidents is a common industry practice and aligns with safety objectives. It is acceptable for HR to set such KRAs for safety departments/officers as safety is a shared responsibility. (1 Acknowledge point)
