A company can introduce a policy of leaves given to employees on the occassion of their wedding as a part of employee welfare.
This may be one of the best practices followed up by a company to boost employee morale.
There is no maximum or min. leaves grated to an employee & there is also not any obligation to employer towards it.
It is a company's discretion to allow an employees leaves for the same.
u can still give leaves from 3-7 days as required.
But dnt forget to mention that employees availing these kind of leaves should have left leaves in his/her leave account n should not be a habitual leave taking employee.

5 days paid leave is too much on the other words we can say for Senior employees who served 3+ years in the concern can have it.
Nice way is special gifts like Travellers bag & Tour package with permitted 7 days leave can be given.
If the person has 7 days leave then no problem else it falls in LOP.

As far as my concern there is no paid leave granted to the employees on their wedding or what ever case may be. If they are eligible for Earned Leave or Casual Leave they can avail the same. If not it will be considered as LOP only.

As far as my concern there is no such provision in leave rules of any Labour Laws. If anyone wants to avail leave they can utilise their balance Earned Leave or Casual Leave.

Hi Veena,
Its true there are no Laws as such to permit paid leaves for an employees wedding. But it depends on the Company's policy even if an policy is made there will be eligibility for any employee to have completed one year of his/her service in respective organisation, then an employee will be permited paid leave for about 15 days or as many days according to the company policy.

While putting up a query or question, you must draft it using proper words and by giving it a proper thought. If your query is properly worded then only it will evoke a desired response.

I feel you are a HR Professional and you are aware of difference between Paid Holiday and Paid Leave.

In subject line of your query, you have used words ‘Paid Holiday’ and actual query is about ‘Special Leave for Self Wedding’. Contradictory words used in query have generated few confusing responses.

Paid Holiday means a general holiday for all the employees.
Paid Leave means leave approved to individual employee against a application and subject to eligibility rules and policies.

I hope you won’t mind my advice.

Dear all,
Neither Factories Act nor Shops and commercial Establishments Act provide spl. provison of paid leave for marriage . Any way such leaves are granted
from employee's PL or leave without pay if no PL is available, normally upto two weeks.
However post marriage carry maternity paid leave !!. (six weeks plus six weeks.)
Of late a few magnanimous companies (eg., IT /MNCs etc,) are giving spl. paid leave for marriage ( one time only !) upto a week as a part of employee welfare measure which is not mandatory. But you may note that such leaves once provded as a policy , can not be withdrawn in future as it attract Sec. 9A of ID Act.

Dear Veena,
Your question headline says about "Paid Holidays" & latter on you talk about "Paid Leaves".
Both have different meaning!
Leave for marriage is not any rules, but it depends upon company's policy. Many co's provides paid leave with honeymoon tickets too to their potential employees.

Don't be emotional and be realistic. If a employee wants to go on leave ,he can do so ,usually companies have leave policy and he make use of the same,if he full fills the eligibility conditions. If he is not eligible company can grant 'leave without pay' making the absence period,authorised.
