dear mr rishi
ur worry on mid career shifting is unwanted and uncalled for .
2. many people have shifted and that too successfully [ my brother who was an electrical engineer moved into paper pulp production and became a top man in the field and represented India in international conferences]
3. please remember a day has 24 hrs and you are an employee of your organisation for 10 odd hours and rest of the time is free.
4. take a part time HR assignment in a small industry and gain in knowledge in all spheres instead of feeling bad that your exposure is to only recruiting and training .
5. please take on other HR assignment in your organisation when there is addl load .
6. you do appear to be having a good lady HR boss . make use of her guidance and act.
7. lastly the theoretical knowledge you will gain from PG Dip will not be sufficient to take you higher up in HR . u will need some practical exposure .
wishing you all the best in ur switch

Dear TSK Raman sir,
Thank you very much for your advice. I heartily bow to you for extending your expertise and guidance to me.
So far I have only been thinking of starting as a freelance recruiter on the weekends....I did not know that part time HR roles, especially in HR operations - such as employee record keeping, employee relations, etc are available.
In case of my organization, the HR operations team is full, and there's a buffer of resources to handle operations in times overloads...so there's no chance of taking my help anywhere...however, my boss did involve me in recruitment drives....
so, please advise on how do I go about making my way into part time [weekends] HR operations....I am currently based in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh...could you please help me out with any avenues you are aware of in your network?
Best Regards,
