Ankita's suggestion of Wellingkar is worth pursuing.However, I have seen employers pitching in for two year diploma courses. This diploma may enable you to gain an entry in HR but to move thereafter in career, you may have to have a proper integrated qualification.Therefore plan for it also now.All the best.

Usually a distance learning management course isn't as fruitful as a full time/part time/ classroom session.
Honestly speaking, it is not just the HR knowledge or certification, it is also the HR discussions and projects, how you interact in groups, how you handle trivial information, project deadlines, handle your group and man power, etc that goes in making an HR professional. A distance learning would surely give you the same education and similar certification but the mock experience wouldn't be there.
It would be for yourself to decide what you wish to avail. If it is only the certification, i don't think distance education would harm, But if you need to learn and grow a school session would be needed.

Hi Rubis...

Being from technical background, i can only say Oracle and SAP are like CRM...

Basically a SAP HR or an Oracle HR course would help you to work on the HR software that many big organizations use... But not all...

Many big brands who have considerablly manageable employees, even today use traditional excel and access (as database) to come to conclusion.

Another thing, as i said before SAP and Oracle are just CRM or database/info handling mechanism, it won't give you core HR knowledge... it would teach you how to do (say for eg) a recruitment task easily by maintaining a data that gets updated automatically...

But it won't teach you the core process of recruitment... (hope you were able to guage the difference)

Abt which course is better, honestly i've never enquired.... reason being, in order to understand a shortcut or an easy way, firstly we must know the longcut or a difficult way... I am trying my hands on excel and managing my data on it (also coz we have under 50 staff).... So i can't tell you which one is better...

But I would recommend to first understand the core HR process and practice, and how it works and then only if reqd you can learn the shortcuts of the process... It may so happen that the investment u'd make for such course, you may not be able to put it to use... unless you are wid a brand or big organization with large no of employees, it might not be of help...

one of my frnd's working at a brnd, its in IT industry, HQ at Mumbai but have offices at many places, employee strength of 1000+ or still higher range... and yet she uses excel to make trackers....

Just to give you an idea abt how fruitful or futile it would be to undergo SAP/Oracle at the beginning of ur career... you can always do so in the later part when you think it bcms essential...

(Again that was my suggestion, you're free to seek advice from other professionals here who have better experience... :-) )

While selecting a course, make thorough research as to what course they offer, detailed subject line and syllabus covered and market acceptabilty

Good to know you are interested in Human resource career, first of all engineering degree is plus point for you in this profession, Secondly along with present degree if you have some degree of Human resources it will add an additional value to your carrier.
Now a day’s every organization is hunting behind the cost minimization , process excellence, resource optimization being as an engineer you can underpants the manpower allocation in manufacturing industries ,their training and development planning and need analysis etc what I want to say you can easily understand the tenacity of the matters and have good control over the RCA processes.
A part from that an additional degree in human resources will help you to understand the various Hr functions ,roles the fields in which Hr can contribute, it will also give a sight view of legal statuary compliances in other words you can be able to know the various laws in relation to human Resources.
