Hi Herambh
Having worked in IT recruitment industry for more than 5 yraes with my experience I can say that, age does matter. I've due respect for the comments posted by fellow members but I've seen various good candidates getting rejected due to age, as some times there are team issues. If you want to start as a fresher- developer, your team mates will be around age 21/22. Even tier 1 companies may not entertain your application.
you have considerable experience as a trainer, I would rather suggest you should get more knowledge & acquire skills as a trainer. As you are good in java, you can acquire sun certification & approach the colleges & comp institues. Also you can acquire masters degree in computers, which in turn will open the door to pursue Mphill/ phd to head towards being a professor in college. THis process will take time but at the end, I'm sure you will certainly excell in the career. Industry is in real crunch of good trainers, even universities are facing the same problem. 34 age is nothing if you decide & put your efforts in one direction.
Wish you all the best!!!!

Hey dont wary,
You would definitely get a job in IT or you can work as a freelancer for IT projects, and then by showing your work done can get good job, as the market of IT would take more time to overcome so freelancing is the good option to prove your technical skills.

I may be younger to you but honestly i will suggest you something. Dont think of your past, think of future. Always remember the beauty of ur dreams lies in your future. If age would have been a matter then all great who achieved something in their life or carier would not have achieved something.Remember every succesfull person has a painfull past to tell. One day when you will achive somethin then you will realise the importance. Software is an emerging field where your skills and capability counts not the age. Only i guess confidence is lacking in you. From your post i dont think you are an failure, you stuggled and that is a part of life.
Dont care what your freinds are commenting, but belive in your self and do your best and I am sure you will emerge as a winner. The software industry needs people who have skills, capability and confidence and this I am telling you from my personal expereinces. Please dont waste any more of your time and concentrate on your work.
Thanks

Dont worry dear.
Our dear frds have already given their valuable inputs. Banglore is a good option, if you register in good consultancy there, you can loads of jobs in the profile you want.
Also, naukri. com has a service which guarntees you a placement--it costs 3000, they'll make your resume & provide you placement--thats a paid service other than the free service available online. Try there.
All the Best!!

Dude, you are the '34 NOTTT 64', you have your whole life in front of you, and the best part is that you want to get into a profession that pays. Its not like you want to abandon everything and go climb the top ten mountains of the world from your savings (which i think is totally cool..). Put your head down and go for it , and remember say this everytime you get up in the morning ' I AM YOUNG'. Start believing in it...and ALL the best. Who knows you could be a late bloomer....

Dear Herambh
Don't let anyone put you down because of your age; which in any case is quite acceptable.
You don't have to indulge in self-pity; when you have been a conscientious, hard-working, ethical person; not to mention qualified and experienced.
I am quite impressed by your experiences. It is commendable that you have been an entrepreneur, as well.
You just need a good resume writer who can focus on your strong points and prepare a good saleable resume; and oodles of self-confidence.
Wish you happy, fruitful job-hunting.
Regards.

Dear Herambh,
The age you stated is not actually overaged, the peoples from Defence after completing their first slot of employment even they get the job and enjoy the life. My few friends were in Airforce and Army at the age of 35 - 40, they took VRS and joined the companies and really enjoying the life.
If you are good in software development you will get a right job just update your skills and knowledge and attend some YOGA Cources Preferably from ART OF LIVING ORGANIZATION. Thats all MY DEAR FRIEND.
