You could try event titles like "HINDUSTAAN ZINDABAD" or "HALLA BOL" or "RANG DE BASANTI", organise for some small fun @ work concepts like have a small surprise gettogether at a common place and have a small quiz on independance day.
Employees could be asked to decorate their workstation keeping up with the theme for the independance day......different work teams could be assigned any one of the tricolours and all team members need to be dressed in the same colour.Creativity and fun should be the underlying theme.
Always have small tokens for prizes for all the above events, it keeps the team motivated...distribute tricoloured sweets

You can think in terms of following a certain dress code- of tri-color. You can also have the office decorated with the tri-color balloons.. if you have good singers at office and a good strength then you can organize a patriotic song competition.

Monday - Slogan day
Tuesday : Wear any of the foloowing color - Saffron, White or Green
Wednesday : Sweets day - get sweets frm office
Thursday : Traditional Day

we are planning to organise a look alike competition, where the team members of each team can dress up like any of the national leaders whom they like most & write their sayings in the hoarding in front of their bay.

Also have plans to distribute flag batches and sweets to all the employees.
Not just that, we have asked to dress up in Khadi/Cotton Kurta for guys and Saree or Chudidhar for girls.

On the eve of Independence Day.... Thursday 14th Aug, 08 All Tricolitians shall come together to bring out amongst us the true spirit of Independent India through a
'Theme' dressing with a twist !
Each Department shall be required to follow a dress code of a state of their own choice. Your team may choose to represent one of the following states:
East India- West Bengal, Orissa, Mizorum, Manipur, Nagaland
West India- Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra
North India- U.P., Punjab, Haryana, Uttaranchal
South India- Kerala, tamlnadu, goa, Andhra pradesh
We would like to request each department head to nominate one employee to represent the team and select one of the above states. He/She can send in the team's theme to Shiuli/Simpi, latest by Thursday, 9Aug08.
What's more? There shall be secret judges planted in your neighboring departments to select the best dressed male and best dressed female employees in each department.
Further, you may decorate your office /department area to depict the theme. Click pictures of your work area and send them to us and the most creative and enthusiastic team/department shall win a
