Section 60 of the Factories Act, 1948 prohibits the double employment of adult workers in Factories. However, this provision is applicable only to the workmen in Factories. Some of the companies have specific provisions in their policy banning double employment.

Nevertheless, moonlighting is not strictly prohibited in India. Working for two separate entities simultaneously is purely unethical and breach of contract. More so, working for two entities parallely will have adverse impact on the performance of the employee and his health, besides the employee will not be doing justice with the work at both the places.

Security Guard official or a person doing the duty of Security Guard?
I tell you an incident of double duty which is dangerous:
1. I travel from one city to another in India - travel time 10 hours. I took the Private Bus which was going to the city. It was in the afternoon and after one hour shouting about the destination the Bus started.
After about 4 hours or 5 hours passengers wanted to stop for a while but the door was closed and unable to open to go out. The passenger area door is closed and openable from outside. But the door was locked and a foldable seat is extended and a boy assisting the bus passenger is in deep sleep. How much we bang the glass the driver is unable to hear. Naturally it was a time of mobile just started not with big features. Otherwise the passengers would have shown the flash light on to the vide mirror to highlight his attention.
When finally the we woke him up and the door was opened and bus stopped.
When we were angry with the Driver for such a situation i- the Driver coolly replied that the Boy has done double duty as he just arrived in the morning the after washing the Bus started his double duty.
This is a high risk.
If the Security Guard is double duty sitting outside as a watchman then we should not allow double duty.
You may question even normal Security Guard is going to sleep what is the problem.
This is not the answer to the question. Let him sleep for 8 hours and then ask him to continue his duty.

Hello,
This is against the Law, You have to fix a meeting with the Security Agency and you have to discuss and warn them if any Security guard found sleeping during the duty Hrs. then management will take strictly action on same. (Including Heavy penalty or contract cancellation as per agreement).

#Don't Compromise with Security-This is not the IT Sector............. this is related to Company Security because Overall, security personnel are tasked with securing the premises and personnel by staying on patrol, monitoring surveillance equipment, performing building inspections, guarding entry points, and verifying visitors.
If the related security personnel do double duty and do not get enough sleep then how will they perform their duties smoothly????

Having a double shift at two locations is unquestionably illegal. Even the law forbids working a continuous 12 hour shift. One adult can work a maximum of nine hours per day and sixty hours per week, including overtime. OT hours cannot cant exceed 50 hours in a quarter. Please refer to the factories act sections 51 to 54 for further clarity. One possibility is that with a good enough justification, one could obtain a 12 hour duty exemption from the relevant Chief Inspector of Factories, according to the laws of the state in question.

It depends on the policies and regulations of the security company and the sites where the security guard is working. Some companies may allow their security guards to work at multiple sites, while others may have restrictions on the number of sites an individual can work at or may require guards to be assigned to one site only. It's best to check with the security company for their policies on this matter.
