Yes,I do agree with Mr PON If letter head is valid then stamp or seal is not required,for verification of any appointment letter you will verify from company.

As many said, seal of the co. on the letter head is NOT mandatory. But some insist and some believe any document with a seal on it more authentic and believeable. Of course the cost of a rubber stamp/seal is only 50 Rs. but it gives all the authenticity needed even for a document involving 1000s of crores. For eg. most state & central govt. correspondences are not on a pre-printed letter heads but on a very cheap ordinary paper but with a seal affixed to it (most offices even uses scrap paper/one sided which others throw into the dustbin). Almost all govt.officers are prohibited for printing their own visiting cards and they carry no letter heads but only a rubber stamp.
Judgments by courts are not passed on not on a letter head but with a rubber stamp on it.
But under Companies Act, certain documents require mandatory common seal.
However for the present case, no worry. apptt.letter on a printed letter head would suffice.

A company seal is known as common seal and it is mandatory in certain documents like share certificate debenture certificate etc which are prescribed under the company's act. An ordinary rubber stamp showing the name of the company is not a company seal nor it has any legal sanction.However most government officials use this rubberstamp to confirm the name and designation of the signatory as many government letters are not sent on leter heads.

The state/Central govt seals are made in govt presses which is not the case for pvt companies. Any roadside vendor will make the seals and they may decline to manufacture the govt seals out of fear. Govt companies are following the age old practice of using plain paper with seal/stamp which is not the case with pvt companies. Nowadays, most of the letters generated thru computers which does not require even authentication, e.g bank statements, credit card statements, etc. Frauds can be executed by the notorious ppl irrespective of whatver mechanisim you put in place.

If Offer is released on the Company letter heads with AUTHORIZED SIGNATORY, then Company Seal / Stamp is not mandatory..
These days, Offer is released on the company letter head (which is common). If the company letter head is not ready (in case of new setup)...then you can use company Seal/Stamp, which makes more authenticated.

Seals and stamps on letterheads are generally not required.But authorised signatory is a must.However the purpose for which the letter head is used should be borne in mind, it means when it comes to proving something leagally than seals and stamps would play a more authentic role.
