Dear All,
ESIC is deducted on Gross Salary of upto Rs.15000 p.m.
Employee earning salary above Rs.15000 p.m is exempted from the scheme.
There are two contribution periods of six months duration each in a year, in respect of an insured employee, with corresponding benefit period of six months each.-
i.e April to September and October to March of the follwoing year.
In case an employee salary is incremented in between of any contribution period and exceeds Rs.15000p.m gross, then the ESIC contribution would be on the whole of incremented salary.
In case an employee salary is incremented at the begining of any contribution period and exceeds Rs.15000p.m gross, then he is exempted from ESIC.
E.g 1:
Employee current salary is Rs. 12000 gross p.m.
Increment w.e.f May Rs. 16000p.m and salary disbursed accordingly.
ESIC is contributed on Rs.16000 till September.
From October the employee is exempted.
E.g 2:
Employee current salary is Rs. 12000 gross p.m.
Increment w.e.f April / October Rs. 16000p.m and salary disbursed accordingly.
From April/ October the employee is exempted.
No ESIC contribution to be deducted.
Hope this resolves the queries. Let me know for any other clarifications.

My company deduct whole amount of ESI from my salary, saying that its a govt. rule. But as per my knowledge its 1.75% dudction from employee salary.
Could you please let me know that, is there any new rule created in india [that whole amount will pay by employee only] or any new govt. form designded. My company is Pvt. Ltd. company and they also not give facility for PF. In past they signed from us on a form saying that if we not signed it then whole PF amount will deduct from our salary.

Hi,
I have a query regarding deduction of ESI from incentive. I am working in an automotive sector under a dealership. My gross salary crosses the limit of ESI slab i.e.15000/- +. Presently I am not entitled to ESI deduction but my employer has now laid down a rule that a certain percentage approx 6.5 % would be deducted from my incentive earned apart from the TDS, though no deduction has been made so far from my salary. Please help me in understanding the same.
