Best practices can not be tailor made it has to be evolved from with in the organisation.. but still any practice what you devise to increase the competence,commitment and improve the culture building can be termed as HR Practice and this can be in the form of a norm, rule ,system or some practices example
1. Some companies have deduction for late coming and some companies view it as a odd pratice.
2. Employee referal policy
3. Wishing Employees on thier B-day , annversery etc by HR Head.
4. Having health facilities / Babay sitting facilities
5. Continuous Learning and Development oriented PMS system.
6. Good Employee Services
7. If employee attends the office on his B-day and amount will be given as allowance etc.
8. Companies Internal Magzine covering all the happenings in your compnay.
9. Regular Trg. & Dev.
10.Job rotations / internal department transfer like service employees based on thier performce shifted to Reaserch & Development etc.
And threr are much more which you can devise based on the organisations culture.

Few more of the Best Practices that follwed up in HR while doing the Reference Check, Employee will be asked to provide the land line numbers for the past 2 firms where he has worked and also the board numbers of the Team Lead/Manager under he worked. These numbers are cross checked by visitng the official site where resource had worked.
The HR will contact the previous firm's HR to confirm the Feedback (performance/conduct) and also confirm the contact numbers for the Team Lead/Managers as provided by the resource.
HR will also check the capacity in which those ppl were wrking at the period the resource was emplyed there.
After that they will approach the Team Lead/manager to do the reference check and will compare both feedbacks from the HR as well as the TEam Leads.
The HR will also approach the Accounts Department of the previous firms and will fax the Salary Slips to the Accounts manager or Exec to confirm the authenticity of the salary slip and also ask teh resource to provide the Bank Statements for past few months where the salary was deposited.

Another best practice that I can share is
Sending a welcome letter to the employee and his/her parents to be a part of the family in the organisation. The company sent a letter to the parents as well and making them proud of their child.
A great thing to do !!!

People fudge their Profiles to gain better job , better salary - when we recurit people are recuriting them because of their profile or because their skills and talents - In my last 4 yrs exp. in HR i had seen candidates who had fudged their profiles and they are excellent employees in their work & behaviour.
So question is in interview time itself we have to catch the culprit - Do you agree with me ?

Employee referal means whenver any opening is there in your present company and you advertise it in the company and your employees give you some profiles and if those profiles are selected you will be giving them some amount - thgis practice is called employee referal.

The Best HR practices is depends on the Culture of the Company. Some Companies follow some norms while others follow certain other practices which are beneficial to the employees as a whole.
Whatever may be case, ultimate aim is to feel HAPPY the employee in and around his work place and even at his house stay comfortably. A feeling of Positive energy has to be created by making good healthy practice among the employees of the Organisation by such practices.
