Hi Malini,
first of all make sure you have organisation structure with you
take positions stream wise like Sales and marketing, HR, Technical development, Finance( typical in an IT senario)
line out responsibilities in front of each role
creat a compentancy matrix- like soft skill and role based technical skills
map them along with respective Project manager for individual employee.
tell them where they stand and what is expected out of them
show them heirarchy and ask them where they want to reach( ask career goals, interests and abilities)
ask them what is required to reach there from organisation
based on thier expectations and capabilities draw a career growth plan for individual.
pl remember it is not an easy task, very time consuming and brain storming, it has to be very patintly evaluated along with respective heads.
Do let me know if any clarification required

Hi Malini ji,
Career planning ? How much homeworkl you have done in this regard. It is not an easy job. Following factors are to be considered before making career planning -
1. Which type of your organisation is .
2. What is the growth of industry in which your organisation comes.
3. What is your organisation's growth plan i.e. in coming years how much turnover it would have, technology added, manpower required etc.
4. How much is the initial recruitment.
5. What is the training method you will adopt to upgrade your manpower.
6. What organisation culture you have. Suppose, if the organisation culture is not perfect, people may leave the organisation and that may give setback to your career planning project.
7. Are you ready to meet the renumeration of employees expectation at par as in the other organisations have.
8. For workers and junior staff level- Consider from the point of view of Labour Union if it exist in your organisation.
so, there are many factors which you should ponder on deeply and then take it in practical.
Overall I appreciate your views. Please carry on. I have not raised the question marks, take it as suggestion.
