Dear HR Fraternity, I am unable to use DSC in EPFO. I've tried all the different solutions given on the internet but still not succeeded. Please let me know which browser, which version and which update of Java to be used. Also, please let me know is it 32 bit or 64 bit.

Internet explorer 8 or above will work ( remember it is IE and not edge)
for java, it will auto update self, just open the IE, login into epf site and go to DSC registration, it will route to java site and download the requisite version, install that and log back again
after installation of java, the user has to add the exception list in java manually the main page link of epfo site https://unifiedportal-emp.epfindia.gov.in/epfo/

Firefox or Chrome do not now work with DSC as far as I am aware. As @Glidor mentioned, you can use +IE8 and not Edge(Since Edge is based on Chromium). You can also use Maxthon Browser which is based on IE.
Off-topic, is this not a security risk? Government is asking all people to continue using on old unsupported browser like IE for DSC authentication which no modern browser is supporting. This is try for all Government portals requiring DSC. So much for Digital India.

@HBJ
Safari browser also working fine on mac platform ( i prefer apple platform), DSC is routed as PKI ( Public Key Information) but once the DSC is registered, the signatory/ owner can use e sign in place of DSC,
for e sign all platforms are same, as mot of times it does not use java applet

@Manish
at the DSC registration page, there is option available to registration of e sign also, but it is limited to DSC signatory person only, who can register him/ her for e sign and use it without DSC, it is mobile OTP based verification system., and valid until the DSC validity is active
