Hi All,
I'm a new member on this site and i really am thankful to the community and the publisher of this site for making a forum exclusively for HR people.
I'm working in a software house comprising 60-70 people. We have a monthly birthday party in the company where the employees cut the cake and thats it. i as an HR person want to make this activity a lilttle more exciting.
I was thinking of having 2 volunteers every month who could share with us a joke, a song, or anything and in the end we all sing birthday song for all the employees celebrating their birthdays...
if you all could give me your feed back as in am i on the right track or how i can make it more interesting and exciting

Hi Friend,

Infact i have been trying for the same from quite sometime.

Before the gathering choose few people, give them sometime to speak on few important topics, may be they can share jokes, sing songs etc, this will be lot of fun, instead the monotonous cake cutting.

Initially people would be reluctant to come forward, i suggest you make a start, sing a song, share a joke, may be arrange a small quiz, div them into two groups(impropmtu), employees participate while in groups than asking them alone. Not everyone are extroverts.

last time i said i would start a story asked every one to continue it, it was so fun..it started with a morning jogging and ended up thriller suspense.

In one gathering i said we would just acknowledge and aprreciate ourselves, each dept is asked to stand wherever they, you make a point of appreciating them what they have been doing, let every one cheer them. it will be a great motivation to them.

One month, i asked employees to sit beside their best friends, and asked them to speak 3 good qualities of his/her friend.

So come out with something like this. Employees wait for the gathering and enjoy it.

Take care

Regards
