Dear Vishal,

While issuing the appointment letter to the employees, most of the companies include a clause related to the transfer of the employee from one location to the another. The transfer is an administrative requirement and generally, top leadership does not like any interference in their decision.

Now you say that you have a family problem. In that case, I recommend you put up the application to the authorities concerned to consider your case compassionately and put on hold the transfer. Depending on the validity of the grounds, they will take the appropriate decision.

However, if the decision goes against you then you will have to oblige the Transfer Order and join to the new location. Yes, I understand that it will strain you financially also. But then for the sake of the continuity in employment, you need to compromise. It is not advisable to give resignation in a fit of frustration. You are working in a branded company and getting a job in the branded companies is not that easy.

Therefore, have a holistic view of the current situation. Identify means to provide assistance to your aged parents. Filial responsibility does not mean forever remaining closer to the parents. Secondly, some adjustment is expected from the parents as far as the son's career is concerned.

You are a single child and going to remain so. This is fait accompli. While treading on the career's path, there was a possibility of the physical separation. Unfortunately, that possibility has come true. However, the separation is not alienation. Distance does not diminish the force of kinship.

Generally, women leave their home and go to the husband's home after the marriage. What about the parents of a single daughter? Do they not marry her?

Emotions are important in life but while taking decisions, we need to take the decisions from the head and not from the heart.

Thanks,

Transfers are a part and parcel of employment.
Big companies do have branches, projects etc in other places and in company interest they may transfer people.
Probably you can submit an application on compassionate grounds for some time, while arrangements can be made for parents.
You will have to take a call and handle this carefully.

Hi Vishal,
If I am right you have posted this question just yesterday on 7-Apr-20. Please correct me if I am wrong.
If this is the case then it doesn't make sense asking to relocate during a lockdown period and with the COVID-19 risk still high in the country, you can make a request to the management that considering the age of your parents you are worried about who would be there to take care of them in case anything unfortunate happens at this time.
No management would want to take such a risk by formally turning down an employee's request for taking care of his aged parents during a pandemic.

Today i received the call from hr team so i told them entire story that RMG is threatening me from last couple of days. They said as per company policy no one can force to employee to relocate . so i have 2 months of bench period so they find me new project in same location.
That's great hr is supporting me in this matter.

This is good news Vishal,
It would be good if you can send an e-mail to the HR team describing the situation you had been facing and then thanking them for the support. This e-mail would serve as a record of the incidents that have just occurred.
The next step would be to get into any project close to your skill set, you find now, even if the project may not be an exact match for your skill set. This is because in a couple of months when the lockdown starts getting lifted in phases, there is the chance of forced resignations occuring and employees on bench would be the first targets.
At that time if you are on a project your chances of retention stand high and later after the mandatory service period on the project you can request for a release to another project.
