Hi,
There is a restaurant in Delhi and they are hiring staff for the same which includes, floor staff, housekeeping etc. They want to know if Minimum Wages Act as described here- Office Of The Labour Commissioner
applies to the permanent basis salaried employees to be hired ?
If somebody has detailed knowledge about restaurant staff hiring salary rules, then please do help us.
Thanks,
Divya

Dear Divya,
Fixation of minimum rates of wages under the Minimum Wages Act,1948 is done by the appropriate governments in respect of the various posts of the scheduled employment only. The classification of the employees such as permanent, temporary is irrelevant in the application of the minimum wages fixed. Better go through the Delhi Govt notification in respect of hotels, restaurants and eateries for the actual rates.
