When was workforce diversity more in India?
From India, Chennai
Ever since pre-historic times, India has been a large mass of land comprising of multi-ethnic population, different languages, cultures , monsoons with constant intercourse of domestic and international trade and commerce. Foreign invasions and colonialisation also added to the diversity of its working population. However, the political unification of the country under the British, the industrialisation of the country that commenced during the British Rule in the wake of the Industrial Revolution and continued after independance, rapid process of consequential urbanisation, spread of institutional education etc., facilitated the migration of workforce across the country. Thus, workforce diversity has been there for long here and there in the country depending upon industrial concentration. However, thanks to the advent of Globalisation and IT Revolution across the world, workforce diversity became more pronounced since the policy of liberalisation adopted by the Government of India effective from July,1991 and the trend continues till now.
