Dear Parul,
Businesses sustain or prosper because they provide high-class or world-class products or services to their company. To design and develop world-class products, you need high-quality human resources as well. Therefore, your recruitment plays major role here. HR can contribute to bring more business to the company by recruiting right kind of persons.
However, mere recruiting job-fit persons is not sufficient. These need to be trained as well. Therefore, training on functional and behavioural competencies also plays a major role.
You have recruited right kind of persons, you have trained them also. But is there performance on the expected lines? Therefore, you can create sound Performance Management System (PMS) to ensure that you measure the performance accurately. Going further, it is not just sufficient to measure the individual performance but measure the organisational performance vis-a-vis the individual performance.
To contribute in business plan, you may measure the costs associated with your business and assign management of these costs to the respective HODs.
There are so many things that HR can do but everything bogs down your authority. Do you have sufficient authority? Sans authority it will be empty rhetoric, which anyway is destiny of large number of HR professionals. For further queries, feel free to contact me.
Thanks,
