Hey folks,
I am an young HR recruiter.
Please advice me the ways to exhibit my skills to impress boss and peers..
Apart from initiating L&D activities and employee engagement activities, are there any other ways to prove my skills? (Like writing articles and preparing office magazines).
By the way I am good in poem writing and presentation.
Looking forward to here from you.
Regards,
Lakshmi.

Lakshmi,

Greetings .....

You seem to be a fresher. I, through years of experience, have learned that a HR staff gets unpopular in an organisation for the reason that their Ambitions to grow fast make them work more in favour of the Employer and pay less attention to the bottom like staff and their problems. In fact the bottom line expect HR to act as their voice and the Management desire HR to turn any situation to their benefit. I don't know about others but I, though out my career, have faced this.

What actually happens is the Bottom Line is never satisfied no matter what Additional Perks are added to smooth their living. Also, it is hard to put into their mind the fact that a Company need to earn more to add further to remuneration/perks/other indirect benefits to Staff. Also, you would notice that dissatisfaction at the bottom slows down the Production Process or add snags into it deteriorating Product Quality. Formation of Workers/Staff Union is another part of the same story that too jeopardize smooth functioning of an Organisation.

I thus feel that the task of "Grievance Handling" to an amicable settlement could make a HR immensely popular at the bottom level and at the same time impresses the Management too noting continuity in Production Process.

By the way, kindly make a note that impressing people can never help out to a great extent rather than being more skillful and smart. All you need to do is to find ways in which you can exhibit your skill sets instead of going behind people. Once people find you are good at something it will definitely get their attention.
