A HR Generalist shall have knowledge of various functions of HR which include joining formalities,issuing posting orders,coordinating training needs of employees, monitoring punctuality and attendance,assisting reporting or HR heads in performance management,looking after day-to-day labour/employee needs,attending to employee grievance at unit level,administering discipline,complying with statutory requirement and procedures like Shops Act ESI,PF,gratuity and Factories Act or any other Act applicable to the industry you work in.
You need to gain conceptual understanding of all these functions as a fresher or student and the practical knowledge can be acquired when you are actually performing the functions or during your summer and winter internships.That's why these internships are so important as to gain practical insights about HR functioning, which most students treat them academics too.
