Hello Seniors,

I am working as a HR Executive with IT start up company. Pls. provide your opinion on given below issue :

On 19th June'15 due to heavy rain fall trains were not running from kalyan side & those who travelled by bus were also stucked in traffic so couldn't reached to the office.

Now the issue is employees are asking not to consider this leave as a "Absent" I mean it should not get deducted from their leave balance because they had left for the work but no other mode of travel so did not come to the office, so it's not their fault. They are saying if company can not consider this leave as "holiday" or "leave by company" then should have arranged the transport facility to the employees.

On the news channel also it was showing if it's so urgent then only go out.

we are 12 employee & out of that only one employee reported to the office as he stays in Thane & our office is located at Vikhroli. But none of the employee reported to the office so management had asked to the admin to close the office at 1 pm & leave for the day.

Please give me your suggestion about what can be done in this situation.

Thanks & Regards,

Mansi

Dear Friend,
It is the beyond the situation, let the Management treat the days as usual and marking these days as special leave to the organisation and not for the individuals...which means the organisation itself consider as leave on these days ...
Another way around...make these days as leave and compensate on another two days...
every thing is in the hands of the head .... for the betterment of organisation and for the employees..........
best of luck ....

Dear Mansi,
You are just 12 member IT company. Therefore, you should resolve this minor issue among yourself. IT company's work is supposed to be project based. Therefore, as long as deliverables are met then what is the problem in declaring one of the days as holiday?
Thanks,

As Shri Dinesh mentioned-there is no issue at all. It is how you look at a minor incident. Treat the day as a company holiday. If such incidents are frequent then only question arises.
