Dear,
Employee, who has worked only for 2 days in a week is not entitle for weekly off. Provision of weekly off for those employees who have worked 5-6 days in a week (That depend on company policy).

Dear Digi,
I have already mentioned in my previous post that weekly off provided to those who have worked for 5-6 days in a week.
Beyond that depend on the company policy. How it is formulated and what are the rule defined for Leave.
Please refer your leave policy or go through the leave rule of the respective act applicable to your organisation.

Dear Digi,
The responsibility of the HR man is double towards the employee as well as the employer and he has to strike a balance between two keeping into consideration the production and productivity as also the morale of the workforce.
Giving a largese by way of granting weekly off to a workman who has put in 2-3 days of work in the week may motivate many more workmen to opt out to the same requirement/ demand and may leave the management crippled so far productivity is concerned. The decision, if taken as indicated above will create more problems than solve .I agree with the views as above. Please try to take a balanced approach on this and other similar issues which may arise in future.
Thanks and regards

Would appreciate if you could elaborate your query in detail so as to give appropriate view by forum members, apart from the above if any employee who has recently joined your company i.e. on Friday and Sunday being the weekly off, you cannot ask the employee to report to duty since he joined/worked for 2 days.

To get weekly off with pay, one should work for 6 days in a week as.per the act.
But, In the six days of work, if he applies leave for one or 2 days, it will be counted as days worked.
It depends upon the company policy. some companies are seeing prefix and suffix attendance for allowing weekly off with pay.
Some are seeing one present either in suffix or prefix of weekly off and allowing.
Some are seeing at least 4 days of work in a week for giving paid weekly off.
All these comes in collective bargaining of unions in the company.

Dear Mr.C.P. Singh,
The Act itself is prescribed to allow the employee as weekly day of rest only after working of 6 days or 48 hours. If the weekly days of rest is common to all and you can follow the common procedure. If it is varies from department to department then you have to allow only after 6 days. Now a days some companies are working for 5 days and this can be replaced in place of 6
The laws says that employee worked after 48 hours he should be given weekly day of rest. Now you can design the weekly day of rest of your employees.
