Dear Pooja
Ideally, there should not be any stigma attached to the fact that someone has taken a break from work, to pursue other interests in life; unless it is something like a jail-term.
The best is to give the reason for doing so; and convince the prospective employer.
I personally know a case, where a senior employee had take a break of a few years, in the pursuit of spiritual knowledge and peace. Later on, his Guruji asked him to return to his earlier life, as the time for him to renounce the world has not come. Luckily, in his case the matter was known to his ex-employers; and they gladly welcomed him back.
In any case, there should not be any reason to discredit the skills and experience of such persons. Although, the compensation and job-position may get affected.
In your case, you have not disclosed to us, the reason for this long absence.
If its due to entering a married life and having children and taking care of the family till the time you can work again; you can tell this reason and convince your prospective employer about your priorities during different phases of your life, and how it was important for you to focus on your family responsibilities.
It is a valid reason, even though many may not consider it favourably.
Warm regards.
