Hellow everybody. I have A Query Regarding Medical Leave . If An Employee Has joined The Company in the month of June than that employee is left with 9 Medical leave because from April to March we have 12 Medical leave. My Query Is it possible that Employee can Take all of his/her medical leave in the month of Jan 2014. Should All These Leave Considered As paid Leave?

Generally, leaves are calculated and credited on calender year but not on FY. Pon

As rightly said by Pon, an employee can very well take the entire Medical leave in one go, provided the employee submit the Medical Reports of his/her illness during that period (if it is beyond 3 days). Medical Leave in balance is considered as paid leaves. Here the calendar year is over, so there will be hardly any leave balance available with the employee, as CL/SL are lapsed if not availed. Kindly check and revert

Hi,
yes the employee can take all his medical leaves at on shot.
In case he has 7 sick leaves in his account and he takes 10 so he will be paid for 7 days and 3 will be deducted from annual leaves (if he has). but if no annual leaves...then it will be leave without pay..
Making a formal leave policy always helps.
Eg. Annual Sick leaves: 10 (lapse-could be taken in one shot if needed.
Casual leave: 1/month (12 yearly)-will lapse after the financial year
Annual Leaves 1/month (12 yearly)-could be carried forward
Hope it helps..
