Is there any provision/procedure through which principal employer can directly check the online pf & esi status (viz. registration, enrollment, contribution, returns) of contractors and their labours.

Yes, there is a provision has been made on the official website of EPFO, Epfo (Govt. of India), on the "establishment search option" to verify as to whether the agencies and contractors having PF code numbers are regularly depositing PF contributions every month in respect of all the employees deployed by them.
