Dear Adi,
It depends on which part of Nigeria you are talking about. South Nigeria is perfectly ok. However, northern Nigeria is quite troubled.
Nigeria's business capital is Lagos. It is in south Nigeria. There are large number of Indians in Lagos and surrounding cities. Particular business community from India is very active there. In fact owners of famous Dana Group are from India. In Lagos you will find same Airtel, same TATA trucks or same NIIT. There is good presence of Indian companies in Nigeria.
As far as security issues are concerned, yes some extra precautions are required but that does not mean that the local population is hostile. In fact large number of Africans in general and Nigerians in particular respect India because of the development that we did in post-independence era. In certain cases like social manners or etiquettes, they are better than us!
I do not know much about quality of education but primary level schools are perfectly fine. At most of the places, weather is like Mumbai or Chennai or Kolkata.
On the flip side, be ready to get cultural shock. Not that they are bad but they have their own style of living and getting accustomed with it is initially difficult.
Twice I had been to Nigeria for the training purposes. Both the times I enjoyed my stay.
No issues you can very well migrate there. But I recommend you staying alone for couple of months and then ask for family visa. Don't take your family there directly.
Ok...
