Hello All, Kindly inform me is there any paternity leave policy pattern is available in corporate sector. Thanks & Regards, Ejaz
From India, Mumbai
Dear Mr. Ejaz,
The Government Organizations has given such provision for the Paternity leave policy to the male employee; having two surviving children and also there is only 15 days leave to take care of the wife and the child (new born). However, this policy is applicable only within 6 months from the date of spouse's delivery. It lapses if the male employee fails to avail within the stipulated time.
This might not be applicable to corporate/private sectors. Although it depends on the discretion of management.

Dear Ejaz,
Ms. Sharmila Das is right. There is no law which gives a male employee the right to get Paternity Leaves. Though many good companies give it as a goodwill gesture to their employees but still it depends upon company policy.
Although, i strongly feel that such a law should be passed. As today in modern India, when the families are rapidly spliting due to job or some other reasons and becoming nuclear families, it becomes very difficult to look after the new born till the mother becomes OK to take care of the baby on her own. Even due to humanitarian reasons such Law should be passed. The little angel requires the care of both of his parent's care at such time.
