We have many factories where we deployed watchmen, security, caretaker and q controller to control the vehicle movement. I want to know that the status of those employed in factory in mentioned categories are worker as per sec 2 (i) of Factories Act. Location Maharastra,

As per section 2(1) of the factories act all the above said persons are workermen. Even in Industrial Dispute Act these persons are also included as workmen.

i like to inform you thaht there is an order of Karnatka High Court as The Govt Shop Factory Vs Prisidising officer, 1970, where the court held that the watchmen in not a worker as per Factory Act Sec 2 (l), if any one has the inforamtion about that and any other refrence where we can say that the watchmen is worker as per Factory Act.
