Dear Raghu
Thanks for sharing the news with us... I will say here something good heard.. At least they conducted state wide mock-drill... This is appreciable initiative... Lets hope this kind of events will organize in future... The main aspect is that whether they will do something to fulfill the identified gaps or not...Let's hope for the best...

Only Government do it. I remember that while in a Public Sector, such drills were very common even in the industrial units of public sector. But I rarely heard any such mock drill carried out in private or corporate sector. Since no law binds any private or corporate sector to carry out such drill about the preparedness, the industry will not do it.
Even if there is any law industry would do the minimum as compliance and not take such things seriously.

Dear Mr. Surendera M. Bhanot
The scenario is not like as you thinking... Our company is a pvt. firm and we are doing mock drill compulsorily for once in quarter... You can say 80% of the pvt or corporate sectors are not doing the same... However they also prepare reports of the same to submit to factory inspectorate... The law is there and all are fulfilling also, but the thing is to what extend the actual implementation... 80% through papers...

Dear All,
I do not agree with you.
Most of Major Hazardous Industries conduct mock drills regularly.
In fact in Nasik we have a practice of conducting mock drills by Inviting experts from other industries, representatives from Factories Inspector office.
However not only Major Hazard Industries but other industries too conduct them.
Suppose you have EOT cranes in the shop, an electrician goes for some work and gets a electrical shock, how to bring him down also to be practiced in mock drills.
There can be small specific emergencies, first of all we need to identify those. Make Control plan and conduct mock drills to identify gaps.
According to my observation, it is because of lack of awareness, there can be some problems.
I have helped at least 3 small and medium scale industries to identify emergencies and prepared emergency control plans for them.
The situation is not that bad.
Thanks & Regards,
Sudhir

Dear All,
Greetings!!!!
As a corporate trainer i have visited almost all segments of industries and have conducted mock drills for many of them.
The basic idea of conducting mock drills is to get prepared for the worst.
unless we identify the worst it is of no use conducting such kind of drills for just making bunch of papers.
Dipil has rightly said, 80% of the entities don't realise this fact and they even don't want to work out on this.
I have seen the worst cases in the industries where at the last moment they are giving me a call and asking me what to do in this case.
The workers are unaware about the consequences, they are even unaware about the MSDS of the chemicals they are working with.
Emergency action plans are made and kept as records, individuals are nil about their responses incase of any emergency situations.
And the irony is , i wonder, people are not familiar about the premises where they work so that incase of unforeseen circumtances they can at least evacuate themselves safely.
I recollect my days in Indian Navy, i served for 15 yrs, we used to conduct a fire mock drill every day. Sometimes it seems to be time consuming but the ultimate goal is to save life and property by putting off fire in its initial stage.
No rule, act can demonstrate the skills we require, but we are the ones, who have to set our standards.
Hope we pull up our socks.

Dear Mr. Ajay,
Greetings!!!
As far as the evacuation plan of premises is concerned, it totally depends upon the lay out of the premises and will not be a common thing.
There are factors like, no. of employees to be evacuated, exits, emergency exits, rescue lifts, emergency management eqpts like fire extinguishers, hydrant posts, first aid kits etc.
The above factors are primarily considered when making evacuation plan. These are put as legends in your evacuation plan boards which are put at different places in the premises as per the location.
The routes of evacuation will change as per the location of the person evacuating.
so it is a careful planning to avoid any misunderstanding.
over that the evacuation plan boards are to be made in autoglow sheets so that these can be used in case of no power situation.
i hope you must have got inputs on it.
PFA model evacuation plan for your reference which will give you more insight of it.
