Whenever I had a problem in my life I had approached to this cite had got the best solution for the problem.
Once again I am in crossroads and hoping you all will help me out..
I had completed my MBA in Human Resource last year. Then after I had joined an environmental consultant and then I left the job to work in a telecom company on contract basis. I have total 1+ year experience.
Now at the end of this month my contract has ended and I have no job.
Yesterday I got a offer for the interview from the prominent multiplex company which is running the multiplexes all over india. I got an offer of HR Executive. The job profile is Handling statutory compliances apart from Recruitment, Selection, Grievance Handling and handling HR Policies.
I want to know weather it is worth to join a Hr Exe. in a multiplex??
Is there is any good future for working as a HR Exe. in multiplexes in India??
What are statutory compliances?? I had never handled it?
Should I join this job, if selected.
I am eagerly waiting for your suggestions as I had to give answer.

Working with multiplexs is providing your HR services to the industry which provide other services general public. So option is not bad. Please check with the timings , if you are time conscious and other factors relating to timing are involved. In my knowledge multiplex offices start late in the morning and work late in the evening.
Legal compliances starts from compliance under
1. Payment of wages act. ( To ensure proper payment ,in time payment and permissible deductions from salary)
2. Minimum wages act. ( To ensure payment of minimum wages as declared by the state goverment for various employment categories.)
3.Employee's provident fund & Misc. provisions act.( Social Security Act related with dedcution and deposit contributions( Employee & Employee) with concerned Regional P F Commissioner for the benefit of worker in his her future.)
4.Employees state insurance act. ( Social Security act to provide medical benefits to member and other dependent members of his family. benefits include sickness, medical , maternity, death and disablement benefits)
5.Workmen compensation act if ESI act is not applicable.( Social security act to provide compensation in case of accident / injury depending upon the severity of the injury / disablement)
6.Payment of Bonus act.( Act for the reward of performance made by individual for the growth of company and also depend upon growth of the company)
7.Payment of Gratuity act.( Act to provide benefits on retirement in shape of lumpsum cash amount after rendering minimum 5 years of service in same organisation under single employer)
8.Industrial dispute act. ( Act which provides grievance handling procedures and settlement of disputes relating to service terms and conditions between employer and employees)
9. Maternity Benefit Act ( Act to provide maternity benefits to female employees if ESI act is not applicable or the employee is out of the preview of the ESI scheme.

Statutory Compliance means to ensure that your organization fulfills obligations under every applicable law. It is also true that it is difficult to fulfill compliance with each applicable law in this country. Since you are being invited to join as an HR Exec, I suppose your worry will be limited to all labour, industrial and establishment laws.
It may be difficult to ensure 100% compliance, it is NOT impossible. The extent to which you succeed will depend upon your knowledge, the culture of the organization/management and your ability to educate (if necessary), convince and persuade your employers to support in ensuring statutory compliance.
If you are personally legally trained or inclined and have the zest to deal with the enforcement agencies, you may take up the job.
It is a thankless job (and most are so anyway!). It is not a career opportunity, so even if you accept it, do not plan to stay on this job for too long a time. Without knowing you personality, strengths and weaknesses, I venture that there is more challenge in a collective bargaining, negotiations, human upgradation and the like opportunities.

I feel you should concentrate on the job aspect and for the time being forget about life span of Multiplexes in India.
Your job profile seems to be handling Statutory Regulations.
Many do view this a routine and Mundane job, but nevertheless it involves a lot of activities. Apart from maintenance of forms, you might also need to maintain rapport with govt. officials and handle inspections in workspot.
There is a lot of vacancies available for such personnel handling statutory in Consultants and BPO's where many organisation outsource these activites to them. So, your experience if you join here is not a waste.
I feel it would be better for you to take this opportunity and then start looking ahead.

Saw your mail. I think the first step that you should take is remove the mindblock of working with a firm which is building multiplexes . what does it matter?
Secondly the profile that is being offered to you is very good in terms of learning!!!! This is where you will build up your experience!!!
you are handling the HR part as well as the stautory part . this is usually a dream profile (at least I think so personally) . My suggestion is take up the job . Also you have received the opinion of so many other learned seniors like Mr. Leo.
I am sure tha you will not regret your decision. dont worry about the statutory payment part. You will learn it automatically!!! If you have the aptitude nothing can stop you. stautory payments are nothing but the Provident Fund / ESI / Profession tax etc.
I am sure when you get hands on experience like this you will go a very long way in this field. Ususally you will get profile like the normal recruitment type : only screening / preliminary interview etc & you will be stuck there but look at the profile that you been offered (grievance handling etc) this is excellent & do not let go of this opportunity!!
