Hello! My name is Dev and I coordinate the activities of a department called "Center for Excellence and Personality Development" in a Management Institute, Bangalore.

I am looking for a detailed comprehensive curriculum. Let me give a background to this.

We are in the process of rolling out a structured training program for the PG students which will cover every aspect of being and excellent human being. We have identified 6 specific topics to create our curriculum from, viz
1. Human Values
2. Health and Fitness (Lifestyle, Exercise, Diet etc)
3. Communication Skills (Language Competency, Verbal and Non Verbal Comm, presentation Skills, Public Speaking etc)
4. Personal Skills (Self Awareness, Self Evaluation, Stress, Time, Anger Management)
5. Interpersonal Skills (Relationship Building, Power and Influence, Authority) and
6. Group Skills (Leadership, Team working and Team Building etc)

We would impart this education through multidisciplinary activity projects or basically through experiential learning methods.

I want help on
a. flow of the entire curriculum (what to teach - when to teach)
b. setting up the session by session curriculum
c. What kinds of projects shall we suggest that allows students to get the most in terms of learning, in a short duration of 18 months. (approx 3 contact hours a week and 6 non contact hours a week)

Thank you for your kind help.
Dev

Dear Dev, who will be delivering the programme? Usually, whoever delivers the programme will decide on the structure and activities. Preparing these in detail for a 18-month programme takes time.
Have a nice day.

Dear Mr. Dev
I would be glad if you can respond to Mr. Simhan's query.

Allow me to introduce myself as EX-SECRETARY GENERAL, KHAJA EDUCATION SOCIETY, Gulbarga, Karnataka. I had spend sufficient time in understanding STUDENT PSYCHOLOGY/MENTALITY, ATTITUDE/BEHAVIOUR and more..

Since you are coordinating training programs in MANAGEMENT INSTITUTION, the kind of modules you are looking at, i suggest you, to take extreme help from PROFESSIONAL TRAINERS for DESIGNING PERFECT TRAINING MODULES/PROGRAMMES that produces DESIRED RESULTS.

Kindly avoid EXPERIMENTING by seeking inputs which will not solve the purpose at all.

The reason why i had suggested you seek professional help because, i understanding STUDENT(various AGE Groups) PSYCHOLOGY/MENTALITY as they are habitual of following things whatever they had been taught because they don't much about PRACTICAL LIFE, CORPORATE CULTURE, WORKPLACE ETHICS and lot more. 80% of our LIFE is based on PRACTICAL THINGS(this is how we perceive and learn) and 20% or LESS is based on THEORY(references).

!) If your MANAGEMENT can hire and appoint a TRAINING & PLACEMENT OFFICER who can play DUAL ROLE, that would sound excellent because i had spend around 40- 60hours per STUDENT per ACADEMIC YEAR for training them on various modules. Only then, i managed and succeeded in producing 60% results in students, which is a big achievement for me.

2) The major reason behind producing desired results or changes in students is not by presenting them TRAINING MATERIAL but allowing them to INTERACT with ME, AS AND WHEN THEY NEED ANY CLARIFICATIONS or WHENEVER THEIR LECTURERS/PROFESSORS COMPLAINED ABOUT THEIR MIS-BEHAVIOUR OR NEGATIVE ATTITUDE and MUCH MORE...I played the role of a COUNSELOR, COACH, EDUCATOR, MOTIVATOR, PSYCHOLOGIST, ENTERTAINER and NEGOTIATOR to MAKE THEM UNDERSTAND WHERE EXACTLY THEY WENT WRONG. This is how i brought changes in students - PRACTICAL APPROACH.

Dealing with students is the most difficult/challenging job than dealing with EMPLOYEES at various levels including MD or CEO.

Last but not the least............whatever module you have decided in favour of your students, ensure that, "IT IS DELIVERED PERFECTLY BY THE RIGHT TRAINER". Current generations are very smart and they have PLENTY(N NUMBER) OF QUERIES for CLARIFICATIONS.

I have designed one module exclusively for students and employees that helped them to change the HABITS. I am interested to share the same with you. Do write to me for further discussions.

I Suggest you to look forward THE BEST TRAINER who is
a) MASTER IN EXPRESSING REALITY,
b) SHOULD INFLUENCE STUDENTS BY HIS WORLDS,
c) TOUCH THEIR HEARTS,
d) MAKE THEM UNDERSTAND EVERY SINGLE INFORMATION WITH EASE,
e) BEST USAGE OF BODY LANGAUGE,
f) ENTERTAIN THEM TO UNDERSTAND BITTER FACTS OF LIFE................................rather just PRESENTING CURRICULUM IN WRITTEN for REFERENCE. No wonder, If STUDENTS really got IMPRESSED, that means, they will PRODUCE - DESIRED RESULTS or YOU CAN NOTE POSITIVE CHANGES IN THEM....You can conlude that, THE TRAINER IS EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT. take my words for granted..

Dear SHAIK ABDUL KHADIR

Firstly thank you for responding to my queries by seeking clarifications form my end. My responses are inline..

1) Have you ever tried to approach your faculty and sought information in this regard
Yes I have sought information in this regard from the subject faculty. In my opinion, most of the faculty would be largely benefited by participating in the program themselves.

2) Does your faculty has got any information or experience in training your students on this subject matter
The faculty have a lot of information on the subject matter but no experience in training my students on the subject matter

3) Is any of your faculty is trained in SOFT SKILLS, BEHAVIORAL SKILLS and lot more
No. Baring 1 person, none of them are trained in SoftSkills and behavioural skills.

4) To what extent your faculty tried their best to train your students on other skills besides CURRICULUM.
The faculty have given their inputs to students of what shd be done and what should not be done (with respect to Soft Skills) but ....Speaking about to what extent .. on a scale of 1 to 10 , 1 being the least and 10 being the maximum, i would rate them at 1.

Having said all this.. my faculty colleagues are one of the best in the business, in the topics that they are responsible for.

Thanks for asking.

Dear Mr. Dev
1) Gather information held by your FACULTY.
2) Prepare a basic skeleton - MODULE WISE.
3) Approach a TRAINER on COMMERCIAL GROUNDS and FINE TUNE your MODULES as per your INSTITUTION NEEDS.

a) It would be the best way, for your faculty to reveal information to the students, in the form of SMALL LECTURES and WORKSHOP. Its worth trying rather holding information to oneself, this will help individuals to transform INFORMATION into KNOWLEDGE BASE

b) NONE OF US ARE TRAINED BY BIRTH but, most of us had learned by TRAINING STUDENTS/EMPLOYEES/INDIVIDUALS which made us FINE TUNE our KNOWLEDGE BASE.

c) Being a MANAGEMENT FACULTY, they should have attended such programs to explore THE OTHER SIDE(PRACTICAL) OF THE WORLD, rather just concentrating on MANAGEMENT SUBJECTS and teaching whatever is found in the curriculum. To me, "EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION is a VIRTUAL WORLD" and to be honest, at the max 20-40% of curriculum(subject topics) taught during course of study, is utilized/implemented in our REAL TIME/PRACTICAL LIFE, rest we learn as TIME PROGRESS.

Every individual is considered to be ONE OF THE BEST in his DOMAIN, unless he proved/demonstrated his ABILITIES/CAPABILITIES/COMPETENCIES/SKILLS/TALENT in the PRACTICAL SENSE.

To face CHALLENGES, Management students need more information and exposure in EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION SKILLS, CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS, DECISION MAKING SKILLS, PEOPLE MANAGEMENT SKILLS, CHANGE MANAGEMENT, TEAM BUILDING SKILLS and LEADERSHIP SKILLS.......

With profound regards
