Hi All,
As per the ESIC Act the period of contribution is divided into two parts.
1) April to Sep
2) Oct to March
Any employee whoes WAGES is revised in between these contribution period and the employee WAGES has crossed a gross limit of 15,000/- shall be continued to contribute towards ESI scheme till the end of the period.
Means, suppose an employee is under ESI bracket in April 11 and his wages is revised in May 11, which has exceeded the limit of 15,000/-. Irrespective of the fact that his WAGES is revised, he will be covered under ESI till Sep 11. Both employee and employer will have to contribute till Sep 11 on the basis of revised WAGES.
Simillarly if an employee is under ESI bracket in March 11 and his wages is revised in April 11, which has exceeded the limit of 15,000/-, he does not need to contribute towards ESI scheme as the contribution period of Oct to March is over.
