Dear All,
We are a Real Estate company and are planning to start up 2-3 projects in West Bengal at different locations. We need to Register as a Principal Employer under Contract Labour (R&A) Act. My question is that-
As a Principal Employer do we have to apply for separate registrations to the respective regional offices for 3 different projects?
OR
Do we have to take registration only for our registered office?
Rgds..

Dear DG
As pointed out by Mr Khola, every regional office / establishment for whom the appropriate governnment is the State Government, each Establishment would have to apply & procure seperate RC's for each establishment or project.

Dear Mr. Khola/Mr. Gaikwad,
Thanks for your responses. Let me elaborate the thing and discuss what i have understood...
we are a real estate company based at Kolkata, West Bengal. Our Regd. Office is at Kolkata. we are going to start up 2 projects @ 2 different locations within Kolkata. As per my question and your answer I realized that we should acquire separate RC's as principal employer for 2 different projects rather than having a common RC as a Principal Employer based on our registered office.

Hi,
Contract Labour Registration is compulsory only if the organization/establishment or specific branch appoints the number of manpower exceeding as prescirbed in the respective legislation.
For example: In the state of Maharashtra it is 20 number and AP 10 number.

hi,
as per contract act 1970,if establishment has contract of twenty employees or more than it. principle employer is liable having a RC of contract. a single RC is applicable for each contract with in the state. but in lieu of each contract, principle employer has to give application form to contractor.
No. of employees may vary as per state rule.
