Hi Friends,
We have received PF slips and we note that many of the employees names are mis-spelt. Will this affect the employees in future or as long as the PF number is correct they need not worry.

Dear Giri,
we have faced the same kind of problem last year, many of our employees were complained about incorrect of there names on P.F payslips.
To resolve the problem we brought to notice to P.F officials ,as per their directive we have given a official letter for correction of names with result we could not see any mistakes on latest payslips.
My advice is follow the same procedure I mean meet your concern P.F official who is taking care of your company p.f matters and I inform him officially thru letter.
I wish you all the best.

Thank you for the reply Telikepalli.
We had informed the PF office last year and we found few errors were still not rectified. We would do this again this year.
But just for my understanding, I wanted to know if there are errors or spelling mistakes in the name will it affect the employees in future while transferring or withdrawing the amount.

i know its very late to post but spelling mistakes in names are common....what imp is pf account no. in pf dept pf is accumulated and settled based account number and name given at in Form 5 or form 9 initially...
Hi Giri,
You need to give an official letter mentioning the names of the employees with the correct spelling for rectification. Do mention that the same has been misspelt as "...." in the PF slips received for the year....
Submit the letter in 2 copies, 1 to get it acknowledged from the PF office, so the same remains in your company records. In the event of employee leaving, there will not be any problem at the time of transfer or withdrawal of PF.
Regards,
Smita

Dear Giri
According to my experience pls. to write correct name or to check the name of an employee in Form no.6/6a (return) which is submitting annually. Without changes in this form; PF office will not do anything in PF slip.

Hi All,
The errors must be corrected by taking up the matter with the PF department in the appropriate form.
This is necessary as banks, harassed by frauds, are becoming increasingly stringent in dealing with errors. So to avoid delays at a later stage, pre-emptive action to correct any anomolies would be a good idea.

Dear Mr. Giri,
In such cases you need to get the copy of any identity card issued by govt. alonwith letter by the employee to the employer mentioning the mistake in the name and that you want the same to be corrected in PF department. The employer then alongwith the letter of employee and copy of identity card submit the same to PF commissioners/ regional commissioners/ asst. commissioner's (whoever the higher authority in the particular location) submit the same getting acknowledgement on the copy.
And also at the time of sending the annual returns check and ensure that all the names are correctly spelled in the returns as the slips are made on the basis of returns only
