Dear HR Mates,

Need your suggestion and guidance.

After 1 yrs experience in recruitments i have joined an organization month bak, in Oct. Now there are lot of problems which has started occurring since i joined.

In the beginning i wasnt sure of what responsibilities was i suppose to start up with. Though they hired me as an HR Coordinators. Now the problems that i could site were, firstly the organization is in the early phase of Transition. They have some old employees and their attitude is very rude.

Since the time i have joined i have noticed them creating a difference among the old and new ppl.

They are make fun of the new employees and also bullying for no reasons.

Few days back I thought it would be clear if I went to the MD and discuss these things and also about the job responsibilities that weren't clear to me.

Making an effort I thought there has to be a major role of OD here. So i thought I would conduct a session where we all could introduce ourselves and also do certain things through which i could understand their perception.

I was so ready to take up the big challenge until they made me feel so annoyed and horrible.

Before i could take up such session I saw the HR herself going and talking to an employee making fun of me and when i directly pointed out she started yelling at me and then we had a discussion involving the other few old employees who made me feel worse.

Few things i figured out.

The HR is not the right person herself.

There isn't any leadership taken for any thing.

People here are such hypocrites.

I am disappointed by their behavior and my motive of taking up the challenge has sunken down

Should I change the organization because I really want to learn and also take part in different assignments of OD and Training(generalist profile moreover)

Where do I get chance and what do I do???

Should I stay here atleast for 6 months so that my career graph doesnt hamper.

Plz friend and seniors I need ur suggestions and advices

Urgent!!!

Firstly my interest are is in training and also OD.

Dear Preeti, Before I suggest something, would like to know about MD or management. Are you getting any positive response from their side?
From India, Pune
Dear Dhanu,
The MD was happy to know that I am taking an initiative to bring in change and thus he asked me to discuss the different things i want to do whith the HR and plan it up accordingly. Whereas the HR herself is not doing justice to her position. she is more of handling the administration part than HR. She is not helping and also the MD is Dependant and doesnt take part actively.
There is no role of the management as the MD and his father is the part of it.
Waiting for your suggestions

Well, what else do you need then if MD is responding good.
I would suggest, take it as challenge. There are lot's of opportunities for your personal growth & skills development in your current organization. You should aleast spend 6 months there.
If you really wana learn & grow as HR, then firstly figure out what the MD wants from the employees & company. If you have any plan of action for the same directly discuss with MD (If your HR manager is not responding), get approval and impletement.
Always remember, never directly get into argument or response to employees actions towards you. Same can be controlled through procedures & rules. You should not concern about employee if management is with you. Beacuse it's a responsibility of HR to make work culture more productive & a big challenge too.
All the best!!!

Thanks Dhanu for your suggestions.
Hopefully I would be able to survive this new organization. Lets see what happens till next 6 months. Could you please also mention a few methods and ways that could help me in initiating the change process.

Ms.Paul Preeti,
I was in the same situation before two years. After completing MBA and with one year of Experience I joined an organisation as a Generalist HR.Being an adult i'll strictly adhere to the policies of the organisation so all the senior employees will oppose whatever i do and always they will put me in a fix, First i lost the confidence but later i came to know that problems will always come to the problem solvers, after that i used to gain confidence out of every problem and at last changed their views and all of them cooperated and became very friendly.
Thinking to quit the organisation is not a good sign of a HR. we are here to manage the People in an effective manner. We are the only person to influence others and bring changes in the Culture or climate of the Organisation. If you think about quitting then you are not capable for the post of HR.As a HR we should tackle the problems. problems have solutions so check for your solution.
Ms.Paul Preeti, plz remember the quote "A problem is a chance for you to do your best." ~Duke Ellington...

"The man who has no problems is out of the game." ~Elbert Hubbard

So you are in the game....Play your Game well and safe..

All the best

Before you set any plan for any changes, try to analyse current situation. Figure out old employees behavioural trait and reason behind the same. Reasons could vary like dissatisfaction for salary, excess work responsibilty, low motivation, lack of appriciation etc.Once you will know the root cause, you can yourself able to formulate action plan and policies which would be beneficial to both old & new employees.

Ms.Paul Preeti,
Behavioral and other soft skills training will not be effective to these set of employees if they are trained by In house Trainers so arrange for Trainers from other sources( The Trainer shouldn't be from your company or no way related to your company). This really works.

Dear Madam,

i have read above your communication but suppose if employees are dissatisfied with their salary as well as their work responsiblity (apart of their designated work responsiblity doing multi functional work which is not a part of his jd) and this fact is very well know by management perosn or senior then what to do...

At the same way they try to convince him/her that you are doing a multi tasking job and it will be more benificial for you in future and also in present..is this true ? ? ?

i have seen in many case that companies hiring people for any one post(like hr ) and after sometime they wish both position (hr/admin) work should be done by he/she but as per his appointment letter and his job responsiblity its not correct and not only this but also above discussed things happened with him/her in that perticular situation what should be the right thing to do..(leaving the organisation is correct action ? )

This kind of companies are taking two persons work from one employee and they called it as cost cutting is it so...

Kindly request you all member to guide and suggest..

Regards

Dhruvin

Thank you so much Mr. Vignesh and Mr. Dhanu for your suggestions.
But i dont think the management or anyone else would really support investing so i guess it only me left.
I asked the HR about it but i dont think they really want it.
what are different ways through which i can understand their mental status. They would be frank enough with me and I being the new person, they wouldnt open up in front of me. Coz they think so superior of themselves..
What kind of training programs would be efficient for them???
Anticipating you reply!!!
