Hi All,

I am a new member of this site. I am working as a Training Executive in an IT company. Please let me know how I should plan a Knowledge Sharing Session for Junior Employees. Is this session only for solving problems, or can it also be done for sharing knowledge between the employees on:
- What they are working on
- Their roles
- The problems they are facing.

Dear Prerna,

Your interest in arranging KSS is laudable. I had taken part in such a session in early 2000 when we, the researchers, were expected to present to other researchers every week during lunch breaks. If you had searched the web for ideas, you would have found some excellent material. For example, http://km.fao.org/uploads/media/CIDA..._Knowledge.pdf contains a PowerPoint presentation on that topic. Additionally, The 3Cs of Knowledge Sharing provides information about The 3Cs of Knowledge Sharing: Culture, Co-opetition, and Commitment.

Have a nice day.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for the material you shared. In addition to what you have mentioned, here are a few practices that I came across.

1. Call for an idea presentation within or outside the current role held by the employee.
2. Arrange for role plays by interchanging the actual roles. Let a developer play a business analyst, a quality analyst play a developer, a project manager play quality analyst, and finally a business analyst play a Project manager!
Create a situation/case relevant to one of the current issues. It would be really fun to make one act and think like others.
To make it more interesting, add a twist by asking them a solution while playing those roles :)
It might require you to plan for such a session. But the end result would be worth it.

Wish you all the best!

Hi there,

It's very easy to have a knowledge-sharing session. You can send an email to all employees introducing the session where you can give presentations to provide them with new information, teach them how to do something, or even introduce an idea and subject it to debate whether the organization needs it or not. Make it as informal as possible, yet it has to be taken seriously.

My previous organization designated Tuesdays to hold these sessions in the organization's pantry, and everyone is invited to attend. It's not compulsory for one hour from 10 to 11 am.

You can create a webpage/blog on your organization's internet site where people can upload documents, presentations, and information for the entire organization's benefit as a way of sharing knowledge. Even materials you have been given during training sessions you have attended can be uploaded if you have soft copies to share with everyone.
