Hi all, In our company (ICT) many people call in sick, for one day or leave early due to sickness. Most used reasons are: feverish, headache, general discomfort. Also when someone has an appointment, and no days left in their leave; they just say they are sick and do not come to office...

Until now, we have not taken any action on this. Only thing which is being done is a deduction when someone calls in sick (so: a day sick is a day deducted from the salary).

But what I hear: employees are just okay with this, so whenever they have something, they call in sick... Can anyone tell me something about Law, rules and regulations on sick-leave. Or what I really would like to know: how do I change this office-culture...??

Asking for a letter from a doctor (but that can be bought...), sending someone by the house of the person who called in sick? Giving an amount of sickness-leave?

Please help me out on this!

regards,

Petra

Employees are eligible for sick leave.
Only reason that when ever employee wants to apply for sick leave then he should avail the leave and apply the sick leave on return to duties.
You can't apply for sick leave in advance.
Sick leaves are eligible for those employees who are not covered under esi
sick leaves and earned leaves can be carry forward year on year
