Hello Seniors,
I have come across a problem. Kindly suggest me a solution. I am working in a dealership of Ford India. I am the only one who is handling HR department. In our organisation CRM is going to take maternity leave & management not sure she will come back or not. Regional service manager of Ford India keeps on pressurising me to get capable person for the post of CRM having good automobile experience but owner of the company want me to hire fresher at less salary. So, owner of the compant want me to directly say to RSM that with in a period of 1 month I am unable to find out capable person.
I am so confused that what should I do?
If I hire Experienced CRM than Owner of the company will dissatisfy with me & If I say I am not able to find out good candidate than RSM will doubt on my capabilities.
Kindly suggest me senoirs how to tackle this situation?

To do things the right way, you may have to do a bit of an analysis presenting both the pros and cons of hiring a seasoned CRM vs a fresher and let your superior decide.

A fresher may be cheaper in salary but the time & resources used to train up a fresher can be substantial. Also, true results can only be seen after 6 months.

As for a seasoned CRM, at least she/he needs to do is to focus on the company culture, systems & processes without undue concern on his/her domain competency. Results can be seen in shorter time frame.

As CRM is a customer-facing job, can your company afford to put a fresher in front of a customer? The Automotive industry in India is experiencing organic growth and everyone wants a bigger market share. What's the business strategy of your company? What's the manpower strategy to achieve the business goal?

Having service the Automotive industry in my country, Singapore for the last 10 years, the industry requirement for a CRM is Degree Holder with at least 5-7 years of industry experience.

Your skill sets and the CRM skill /competencies are surely different....then why the insecurity.Are you not competent in your job or ?????
Secondly never make this mistake of comparisons with self while hiring a employee .Do a hiring based on perfect evaluation methodology/assessment of the new hire, keeping in mind the constraints ie; exp,salary,exp of the new recruiter.

Dear Jasmeet,
Mr. Alwas has given good soluation to you. Even she has not given any resign letter how can we come to conclusion to hire freher/CRM. During her maternity leave period you can add these responsibilities in house person to take care till come back. This is also a good opportunity to in house person to prove or improve their selves.

Hello,
Recruitment always start from need. So fill up the need without much about future analysis. As an employer / recruiter, no need to doubt about intelegince or over intelegince of a new employee. Be Bold and appoint a person who is simple, well mannered, deciplined.
HR s duty is to facilitate the new employe and support poor honest employees , who always cannot speak out of fear (about their senior & insecurity)

What best you can do in this doledrum situation! I see this is totally a unprofessional approach from there side, so talk to both of them,advice & suggest them from your perspective. last but not the least you have to go along with the owner of the company. " You can select the organisation but you can't choose your boss".

Hi Jasmeet,
You are certainly caught up in a Catch 22 Situation and there are no hard and fast rules in such cases. Even I faced a similar kind of situation some time back and on the basis of my personal experience, I'll suggest that do pay attention to your reporting relationship in this case. Whether, you report directly to the owner or to the Regional Head, keep your immediate boss in loop of whats happening and let that person know, about the views of the other superior. Let your boss know that you have already discussed out the matter with the other superior and if possible, ask him to have a one-on-one discussion with him as well because both of them being at almost similar levels in hierarchy , a consensus with respect to decisions would yield better results. After all, everybody is concerned about the benefit of the organization only!
