Dear All,

I am working with an IT company, and we are planning to go for campus recruitment. Can anybody help me with how to go about it?

1. What steps should we follow?
2. How many rounds should there be?
3. What will be the training process?
4. How long can we keep them on the probation period?
5. What will be their stipend?
6. For confirmation, do we need to assign them any projects/presentation?

I need your inputs on this. Looking forward to your reply.

Regards,
Sara

Dear Sara,

I can totally understand your problem. I went through it myself yesterday, and this is what we did.

We first had an Operations Person give an overview to all about the Industry, Company, and the opportunities available. We then asked them for queries and cleared their doubts.

After this, we did the initial screening through a test and shortlisted the candidates. After shortlisting, we have now told them we will get back to them within a week.

During this week, we will discuss their projects and try to find out their areas of interests.

Regarding the stipend, I think the company must pay some stipend since ultimately, even though they are on a project, they are working for the organization. Also, since they are getting paid, they are more motivated to do their best.

About the Probation - It normally is 6 months.

Hope this information will help you.

Shweta

Hi Sara,

How are you?

Shweta has given a good idea on how to go for Campus. After the introduction of the company and the written test, I would suggest going for Group Discussion and Extempore. These two activities will help you shortlist confident and smart people, rather than overconfident students. I firmly believe this exercise works. The stipend can be clearly communicated to the students; it should not be discussed at later stages. I would like to know, though, for which posts you require the candidates.

Cheers! Archna

Hi Archana,

I am doing fine, what about you? Well, nice to see a reply from you. I think this will help a lot. We are looking for Developer positions. We are just planning to have campus recruitment, that's why I am preparing things beforehand so that I can start implementing that without any delay. Just doing my homework 😉.

I hope the team of Mehafil-e-Dili is doing well. I received an email from Devjit; felt nice. I have to reply to him; going to do that too.

Take care,

Sara

Hi Sara,

Good to hear that you are going for the campus recruitment. I agree with Shweta and Archana who have given their valuable suggestions to you. I would like to add some more points to them. Once you finish your briefing about the company, make them understand the competition in the present market and how to overcome the interviews and what exactly you look for during the time of interviews. If we can give them a few tips and suggestions, students who don't get through in your interview can prepare themselves better for the following campus drives.

Let's give them a helping hand in shaping up their career.

Followed by the written test, you can conduct a GD where you can filter the people and a basic technical interview, and finally, a HR round to check the confidence levels and attitude. I am sure the entire program will take a day or a maximum of two days depending on the student strength. I have conducted around 40 campus drives in my career till now.

Select the candidates with the right attitude, good communication skills, and basic technical knowledge.

You can always email me for any queries at satishgaddam@gmail.com.

Regards,

Satish Gaddam

Hi,

An important thing we need to consider is the number of backlogs these individuals have. In most of the current drives, people have one or two backlogs, and sometimes the company's HR department accepts individuals without verifying their mark sheets, allowing them to take exams after joining the company.

I believe that the test papers should be evaluated by individuals from the company or by individuals not associated with the college. There is a significant amount of fraud occurring, with some individuals even paying money to secure a job at that stage. The company needs to establish policies and procedures to address this issue. It's essential to involve the individuals who will be overseeing their work in the recruitment process. This involvement should extend to having these individuals participate as panel members after the written test.

Thank you.

Dear Sir/Madam,

At the outset, we take this opportunity to introduce ourselves as an upcoming Engineering College in Durg, Chhattisgarh.

Our credentials lie in the maxim, "We deliver whatever we commit," and our commitment extends to the development of a scientific temper among the student community, thereby providing quality education to those who wish to pursue a career in engineering and contribute to the knowledge economy.

The Institute is approved by AICTE, New Delhi, and certified by ISO 9001-2000 with an annual intake of 420 students in the branches of Computer Science, Electronics & Telecommunication, Electronics & Electrical, Mechanical, and MBA.

CSIT (Chhatrapati Shivaji Institute of Technology) shall provide a one-stop solution for organizing an exclusive/pooled campus drive, offering recruitment-supporting infrastructure along with a platform conducive to headhunting. We can accommodate more than 1500 students at once, catering to the needs of top-notch companies like yours. Our credentials include maintaining healthy relationships with leading Engineering/MBA institutes across the state. Additionally, our ambiance and dedicated workforce of 15 team members in the Training & Placement Department add strength and vigor to ensure the success of every campus drive.

Apart from possessing a rock-solid infrastructure, including ergonomically designed classrooms, high-tech laboratories, and a data-card computerized library for easy access to reference materials and journals, our hallmark attention revolves around the vibrant INDUSTRY INTERFACE CELL, which is the nucleus of all activities in the institute. Over the years, it has established a niche for itself in liaising with leading corporations.

Overcoming our initial hiccups and learning during the incubation period, the placement cell has fine-tuned the personalities of each student to near perfection by exposing them to various real-life situations and profiling them through participation in presentations, seminars, etc.

It is worth mentioning that we have received interest from various companies.

I am Deepak Kalid, based in Mumbai, and working for CSIT as a Corporate Relations Officer, inviting you to our campus for the recruitment of the 2008 and 2009 batches.

Please find enclosed our database and a list of colleges in our nearby areas. If you wish, a "pool" campus can be arranged by us as per your requirements.

All said and done, we would once again request, from the bottom of our hearts, a small elbow room to maneuver so that you can headhunt from our eligible potentials. We assure you that, with your permission, we will 'make it happen' and ensure that our students meet, if not exceed, your expectations.

Looking forward to your favorable response in this regard.

With highest regards,
