Happy New Year
I would like to introduce myself!
I moved to Dubai in January 2008 and have been working in HR since. Like others I too am trying to understand the mysteries of the UAE labour Laws and will be grateful if you can help me or direct me to a good source.
I wanted some sound information on severances as like many other companies we too are conducting mass redundancies and I wanted some help on how best to deal with the final settlements and visa cancellations?
I am finding that a lot of employees are not coming to the offices to hand in their passports for visa cancellation and I wanted to know if there is an easy way of doing this without the passport-especially in cases where people have left the country?
Also I have a situation where a guy was terminated under artcle 120 part c but the ministry wasn't notified, he hadn't received his final settlement from us and has now reported us to the ministry-please can you help me understand a good way forward?
By the way I would love to meet up with anyone working in HR in the UAE-it will be great to meet others in the same field...

Thank you for writing in the forum. Almost all your queries are of regulations and legal in nature. Have you contacted the MOL? UAE has very suppportive staff in MOL and I am sure they will handle all your queries. If you havent, then send an email to and I will mail you the contact numbers.
