Dear All, Can anybody send me material on labour welfare, i.e., the meaning, definition, and history of labour welfare?
From India, Mumbai
Hope your requirement is not academic.
All most all labour legislations are meant to bring about Labour Welfare. As such any measure taken by an employer for the betterment and for the benefit of employees shall be taken as a labour welfare measure. Some are mandatory measures which are available in Factories Act and Shops and Establishments Act. For more understanding please go through various provisions in the Factories Act / Shops and Establishments Act.
Similarly, matters specified in the Employees State Insurance Act, Employees Provident Fund and Misc. Provisions Act are also welfare measures in favour of employees. The benefits available to women workers under the Maternity Benefits Act calls for a specific measure to women employed. Therefore, any labour enactment enforced shall be in favour of workers only. Please go through it.
