Thanks Pradeep for a quick response.
But i do not think that this answer can be given to somebody formely. And as a matter of fact I dont think HR is a short cut to success. f you understand a major/core existance of HR.. its a highly strategic and Demanding job.
Anyway, I was looking at a professionally drafted answer to this question.

Hi Tan,

Sorry to say but the answer given by Pradeep is not at all justified....HR Profession is not a shortcut key for Success.

Rather the person who is empathetic/ Energetic / Dyanamic, & versatile can be able to prove as a good HR Professional.

Because every time you are thinking for the well being of somebody else who is actually contributing his best to oraganisation.

Being Empathetic , you can easily undersatnd the views , aspects of the employee to towards the new policy, new implementation.

You should always need to be A ROLE MODEL FOR OTHERS.

Nevertheless to remember that you are a Bridge between Employee & Managemnt so many times HR's correct feedback plays a vital role to exceed/ excel or terminate the career of the employee.

You can take this HR as a Holistic/divine/ varsatile Career because most of the time we need to help the employee going out of the way...

I hope this stanza ,not totally but some what extend will help you to justify why to choose HR as a career.

Why the question?

Are you considering HR as a probable career?

Regardless, HR atracts many as a career for different reasons. There is no point in generalizing the points of attractions. I will share my reasons for choosing HR as a career.

As an observer of people in various interactions, formal, informal, social, personal, contesting, coolaborating, cooperating the behavioural dynamics fascinated me no end. I also realized that for any higher achievement one needs to understand people. (You never undersand them fully anyway!)

So at the right stage of my academics, I decided to study formally the subjects concerned with undersanding human beings before I could make it my career!

Long before I realized that the challenges are enormous. No two situations are alike and are not ameanable to same solution.

It is the unpredicatabilty of human behaviour that made my decision easy.

The challenges are formidable, success rate may be low, but even one success once in a while is so tremendously satisfying that it makes up for all previous frustrations.

And to cap it all, to work with the only animate resource available to the organization is in itself a strong attraction in favour of HR as a career.

BUT.....

Unless the personality, learned knowledge, skills, attitude are in sync and are backed by determination, the choice of HR as a career could go wrong and could lead to misery. To be in HR career, the success requires also a suitable amd matching peersonality.

Hope the point is clear.

I totally agree with you on all the points. Besides, I would want to say that HR these days is acting more as a strategic role wherein you have to decide... and take Strategic decisions... for the betterment of the employees and the organization.
A good HR in an organization make a lot of difference toward the success of the organization.

Hi Mona & Tana,

I am always open for feedback. You have said right thing that "HR - Shortcut to success" cannot be justified alone.

I had put in one line bcoz, I didn't want to elaborate this topic. Every one is a learner and not an expert - that's what I believe. May be this might be one reason why one should choose HR as a career.

HR is a book which teaches u a lot about human behaviour, employee relations, personnel management and lot more.

If u r open to world to learn new things, HR gives u the passion to understand the employee & management relations. If an employee has any kind of grievances he cannot take it directly to higher management. So there u need a connecting hand b/w employee and management and i.e., HR which acts as a co-ordinatory wing.

And to justify the above sentence, "HR - Shortcut key to success" u need to go in depth.

Success is not a destination, it's a journey. To feel the sweetness of success first u need to get into the path of success. If u just dream, it doesn't come to u, u need to go and get it. To get it what I felt is HR is a position where u interact with different cadres and make both of them feel happy i.e., employee and management. B'coz u r in a position of a maker or a braker. Definitely u need to be passionate, dynamic and perfectionist to prove ur self as a good HR person.

Certainly, there are no shortcuts to success. And, success is not a packed instant food that is easily available in many of the shopping malls. If one needs or determines to succeed, then it is very necessary that he or she gathers himself/herself together to the orientation of the ‘Goal’ and work relentlessly by ones own efforts and dedication, so that the fruit of success is enjoyed and relished. Any ‘so-called’ success that is achieved through ‘shortcuts’ shall fall and perish the soonest, and the remainder will be only disgust and disappointments. “Winner never quits, and quitter never wins” :

Thanx for ur compliments. And I believe u r the only person who has understood my way of expressing the views. If something is said in a word or a sentence, every one need to think and analyze in depth. Only then they can understand the meaning of any concept.
