Dear friends,
I have been promoted as Assistant Manager-HR.
I have 1 and half years of Experience. I joined my present company on 1st May,2007 as a HR-Executive. Three days back the company promoted me. It is in effect from 1st Nov.
I have taken the charge. But, really will it help me. I am really astonished to become an Assistant Manager. They said that my work was supperb and excellent and that is the reason of my promotion. My question is if I go for another interview will they consider me as an Asst Mgr as I got promoted in very less time???????

Dear Ayesha,
This is a type of "Exit Barrier" which the organizations usually make to ensure that current employee does not leave the organization.
This can be achieved by giving the employee more salary/designation than the present industry standards, which is now the case with you.
But there is a way you can overcome this when you appear for interviews. You can always say that your performance was exceptionally good and the organization rewarded you for the same.
Regards,
Ajay

Hi Ayesha,
Echoing M.PEER MOHAMED SARDHAR's comment, but happy with the promotion and that your efforts and contributions is recognized by the company.... unless you yourself believe that you haven't done enough to deserve this? which i don't think it is the case is it? Of course now that you are in charge, you may want to sharpen your leadership/managerial skills.
Congrats

Hello Friends,
M not saying that I dont deserve the promotion. Ofcouse, I definitely deserve this promotion: I have done lot of things for the company, let me list some of my duties Taking interviews, finalising the pay of employees, handling grieviences, giving appraisals, promotion and demotion, getting employee feedbacks, planning job rotation for employees, preparing the payrolls, interracting with the clients and other HR's of the company to enhance business and get projects, handling the consultancies, prepared the HR policies, giving induction and training, conducting exit interviews. and many more..........
These were the roles I have done when I was a HR-Executive. And now as an Asst-Manager-HR, my KRA's are defined much in depth.
what I mean to say is will the other corporate companies accept me as an Asst Mgr, because I guess these kind of cases are very few i.e the journey from HR-Exe to Asst Mgr-HR in merely 1and Half Years!!!!
Thanks for your motivation.......

Dear Ayesha,
To begin with please accept my congratulations.
I perfectly understand your predicament as I have been in that situation before. I think you should not be worried about this. The only thing that you need to keep in mind is that, whatever be your designation, the one thing that any organisation will look for is the ability to handle responsibilty commisurate to your designation. So girl, just keep upgrading those skills and you'll be fine.
Ensure that your current employer defines your KRAs as an Asst. Manager. From there on it is a cakewalk.
